I bought a timeshare and the deed has finally been recorded. Here is my timeline:

1. My week is #27 so I need to deposit with II by May 5th to be able to deposit it.
2. I called VRI today and they said it takes several WEEKS to transfer ownership once they get the deed...ok, weeks to change a name, that seems ridiculous...

So, my question is, can I do any kind of internal trade with VRI to a later summer week, then deposit that week into II so I don't miss out on using this week for 2007? I bought it assuming I would get the usage, and it's not a place we can go on short notice.

VRI does not have an internal trade that I am aware of.

I would go ahead and get the resort added to my interval account - you will need to fax them the deed probably. That way you will be ready when VRI completes their end.

Have the maintenance fees already been paid?

I think all you can do is call VRI & try & push them & explain the deadline for deposit.

You can deposit up to 14 days prior to check in - but you would be limited to flexchange which would be better than nothing.

Interval gets some very nice inventory during flex change.

I had 3 weeks I had deposited 14 days out (I really had wanted to rent them) I just exchanged one for a late May week for a 3 bedroom at worldmark. at lake Tahoe.

THe unit I deposited was only a studio - so overall it worked out.

Why not try to rent or direct exchange if II is giving you a hard time? It takes some work, but you save money.

We bought our first VRI week the end of April, it was recorded in the county in early May and we deposited the 4th of July week into II with the cooperation of the resort manager before sixty days out for maximum trade power. What resort is this? VRI does not take long to change the name. They make $75 to do it, so my experience was quick all four times with them. I faxed the copies of all of our deeds to the resort and paid the transfer fee via snail mail. It didn't take long...........

I own at a VRI resort. VRI used to have an internal trade system. When I reserved my 2008 week a few days ago, I talked to the VRI agent about internal trades. He informed that they will be starting it back up again in the near future.
