It was completely down with an error earlier today.

Now I am seeing multiple of the same posts, and I am getting an error trying to post. Could that be what is causing the duplicate posts?

Any ideas @TUGBrian

trying to fix it

test

Getting lots of errors just trying to open up threads. Was finally able to get into this one to post this reply.

that wasnt fun...had a corrupted table...still currently rebuilding it but hopefully functionality is all back to normal.

hopefully its fixed, likely need another restart of the database to complete the rebuild process but that should only be a few seconds of downtime.

ok...should be the last glitch in the matrix now fixed!

everyone take the blue pill

I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary and my go to blue pill is the men's one a day vitamin. I'm wondering what the blue pill is down south ?

What is the underlying database? SQL server?
the bots fill up a table faster than the scheduled process of truncating it takes place and causes the site to go offline due to the table becoming unusable until space is made... this job happens regularly on a schedule (perhaps once an hour)...but if it fills up before the job runs as is happening hear the site becomes unfunctional generating that error message everyone sees.

appears it happened again just now around 3am

have been forced to completely block all traffic from russia, india, and brazil in an effort to curb this.

Testing 1,2,3 the website is working this fine morning.
Thanks TUGBRIAN.

What a painful unnecessary situation. Thanks for keeping the lights on.

yea we will just have to take a more proactive approach moving forward and implement cloudfare as a solution to curb unwanted traffic.

while the server firewall can block country codes, its not always perfect and this task is exactly what cloudfare is intended to accomplish.

just so many bots from all over its nearly impossible to block them all on an ip level basis. (unless we just want to turn off more entire countries)

wow, blocking those few countries really has trimmed down the bot traffic significantly!
