RCI Suspended Eagle Village Tamiment

Eaglevillageresort.com website seems to be active again. New design and they are advertising rentals. It shows all the units by type. If my unit does not rent, I will drive down to check out the property in July. Does anyone live closer than 5 hours away?
I did live near by but recently moved from the area.

Interesting review on Google of a recent stay. Seems as if they have done 1 unit and all of the others are still in disrepair and communication is still lacking regarding amenities for folks coming. Not alot of progress in 6+ months.

Did anyone see that his other property the music place is under new owners!!??

Is he going to close Eagle village too!?!

I heard there is a sticker somewhere at the village that uses a bad word about John I think were getting screwed over guys

And this is the end of Eagle Village. Just like all the other ventures in Bushkill that John Oakes has touched, he killed it.

Thank you for sharing this information.

I called this morning. They said only paused operations till August 31. Probably a lie. I saw the lake and surrounding area including the poconos park is now owned by The Bluwater Foundation. Probably deal is in motion to acquire EV.

I was on website yesterday and in the booking section it showed availability for july 4 the august 31 through end of year. Today july 4 not available anymore. Either they are not taking reservations for the summer or they are booked and not letting timeshare and keeping the money.

Did they offer you your MF back for not having your week?

I called them . They are definitely closed down. They said after August 31 they would offer make up weeks. They can't offer my MF back because they have no money. That's why they closed in my opinion. They will never open again.

Just received this email:

“Dear Owner,

We understand that Eagle Village has had many issues over the past several years and many people have requested to exit their timeshare. As owners who are current on your dues, we are offering a deed transfer option for $960.00. This covers all costs associated with preparing the deed, filing, recording, and transfer taxes. Once completed this will close out your account.

If you are one of the owners who wish to exit and take advantage of this offer, please respond back to us at CustomerService@EagleVillageResort.com and we will have the documents prepared for you.

Best regards,

Customer Service
Eagle Village Resort”

What are your thoughts for current owners? I don't want to loose money unnecessarily. Should we wait to see if another entity makes a land offer and buys us out or should we take this offer? There's no way to know the right choice for sure. There are many other timeshare properties that have been in this situation. Maybe there's a way to aggregate the dispositions of them all to get a sense of the outcome in this situation? What might the intended desired outcome be for the Oakes group by making this offer? Any logical answers would be helpful. Thanks in advance for any constructive ideas.

Where does this info on Bluwater foundation come from? " The Bluwater Foundation focuses on supporting marine ecosystems and local charities". That does not seem compatible with pocono park...

Keep in mind, 1947 is 100% John Oakes, the same person who is running EV out. Received word that the skeleton crew he had that was keeping EV alive hasn't been paid in 6 weeks. The $960 buyout is his way of paying those people back pay, prior to them stopping work and him getting sued. This is not 3rd person info. If you would like to know how this info was obtained, feel free to send a message.

Very sad.
When I received the email today concerning the $ 960 amount my first thought was EV seems to be encouraging owners to accept the offer.
Now I am reading that they are closed.
This is definitely not a good sign.
What type of resort closes during the summer season? This is usually when many owners/guests make reservations.
I hope those that paid their maintenance fee for 2025 were able to use their time.
Even if they do reopen I would not trust EV to honor reservations or refund fees to owners.

Bluwater Foundation is privately owned by Blake Plumley. It is into realestate development. If you Googke Pike county parcel viewer and enlarge the Lehman area you will see this. You can click all around and see what Bluwater now owns.

I asked Eagle Village customer service for more information. Here is their response:

“Unfortunately at this moment in time, we don’t have much more information that you do. Eagle Village is on the verge of bankruptcy and we have tried to work towards revival however 2024 had double the paying owners that 2025 has had in addition to extensive costs associated with plumbing and electrical issues that have come up recently that have caused us to shut down temporarily. There is a lawsuit out right now that is trying to force it to become a different type of property but nothing is settled or in front of a vote yet or a judge yet. The lawsuit has paused any work because there is question of whether the person who was paying for the work will get repaid even what he has put in thus far so obviously he won’t put anything else in until this is resolved. So we just don’t know right now. We do anticipate reopening in the next couple of months but I don’t have any detail on how it will be paid for or anything of this nature. I’m sorry. I wish I could tell you more. We understand it’s been very frustrating and many people are not happy and we just wanted to make this offer to the people who want out now. People who wish to ride it out and see what happens are completely able to do so. We don’t know if this will be offered in the future or for how long. I’m sure it’ll be offered as long as we are in control of being able to make the offer.

Warm regards,

The Eagle Village Team”

Well, well, well. I called them, too, and they said they couldn't tell me anything more than what was in the email. They said they don't get much info. Soooo....maybe you are John Oakes:unsure: Sounds like a sales pitch to me.

Every owner will need to make their own decision so I will just offer (my own view).
1.Paying EV at this point $960.00 is very risky.
I believe that these payments would be used for outstanding payroll owed to subcontractors or other bills not related to the recent EV correspondence.

2.Even with all the past issues with the Board of Directors and management staff (and there were many problems) At least the recreation center was never closed.
Reservations were honored and the resort never was closed..

I guess the saying “Be careful what you wish for “ now applies.
