Can someone pleace update me on the current VCP price for 5,000 points and discounts/promotions? Also need to know price 2 years ago. Traveling and don't have my notes. "Many thanks"

I'm looking at enrolling 3 to 5 owned properties. Plus, I have lock-in pricing from an encore purchase of 2 years ago.

5 weeks is now 7000 pts, 3 weeks is 5000. I'm not sure the price on points but for 3 weeks through Aruba/St. Kitts it's $65200 minimum and for 5 weeks $95555 min. Might be less with Spain. There is also a lifetime max of enrolling 10 external weeks and I'm hearing they are not making exceptions to this rules as well at least so far.

Why do you want to enroll so many weeks?

Current price is $17.72. I believe the largest discount they offer is 20% off regular price.
Other than specials like St. Kitts had recently or possibly Gold weeks in Spain. Still I think the minimum spend is applicable though in the past I've seen the non discounted rate used as the minimum spend qualification though not lately.

Absolutely most "flexibility and access" for enrolled weeks - enhances the positive aspects of both points and owned weeks. Also, repositioning our portfolio for transition to our 5 children and families.

Our portfolio is intended to bless our family and keep it united beyond our infuence and efforts. Annual reunions at OceanWatch, Newport Coast are assured thru our planned multiple ownership positions.

Our objective is to reposition our portfolio to maximize potential use and flexibility at a reasonable cost. This is likely our last adjustment. Our portfolio includes weeks, enrolled weeks. and points with multiple weeks at certain resorts.

I think we"re done - 18 weeks - 5 purchased from Marriott and all others are enrolled. Own some points and can generate a lot more from enrolled weeks. Can do about anything our families would want and plenty to share.

All the best to our friends here and thank you for helping us.

Any idea what is required for the 20% off discount?
It used to be 3,000 points, but they've been really pushing incedntives and such lately (3x PlusPoints). So, they may have reduced the number of points for each discount level.

Yes, I heard around $14.00, so that price makes sense. $14 X what we own is a crapload of cash. Glad we got into it quite by accident. Still haven't used those Chairman's Club points. Maybe someday.

OP, are you not getting value out of exchanging or using those weeks? What do you hope to accomplish by enrolling? I ask because I am wondering if I am missing something, not that I am thinking it's a terrible idea.

They are ROFR'ing a lot of points currently. I watch that database and even $3 PP is being ROFR'd.

Price was supposed to go up 1 July but I'm not sure if it actually did.

Check with my contact and he said it was slated to but they pushed it back to 8/1.

Be sure you understand the inheritance rules if you intend to pass them on- only parent child maintains enrollment.

You could buy alot of resale points with what you will pay to enroll.

Yeah…I think it has to be vertical down the family chain, so I believe even Grandparent to Grandchild would work.

Yeah sounds like a crazy idea, especially if they already have some weeks enrolled and/or own points. A lot of money upfront and annually not really getting much more of anything for it. Just for the "flexibility" to elect points on the remaining few weeks at a very high cost of redeeming. I guess this is how all those salespeople get their Rolexes.

Understand the inheritance rules and not worried about this.

Yes, we could rely on resale points or just rent weeks or points.

Our approach was to create a usable portfolio for us over the years since 2006. We bought high quality, top season weeks at resorts we use for family reunions, etc. I have no difficulty getting 6 or more concurrent beach weeks and/or can have lots of flexibility with our points, enrolled week conversions to lots of points, and Chairman's Club. Our blended maintenance fee is just over $.50 per point for the points we have and our cost per point is about $5.75 all in - All of our timeshare weeks and points are in the Abound program (enrolled).

This isn't for everyone, but we are happy with what we've done and could afford it. We are probably nuts, but our children and grandchildren are sure enjoying our fun together.

Yeah, still $17.72 today at Westin Kierland Villas.

I was going to buy three Marriott Weeks ( Tahoe) and enroll them with a Westin purchase. It was not with the Westin rules unfortunately, but the equivalent of 5000 points but with Westin product. Which had a way lower MF and cost per point. It was under 60k.
My whole resale plus retro fell through because it just did not make sense for us in general, I can get in pretty easily to timber lodge and my DW won’t let me buy anymore timeshares

To Ckhawaii,I'm glad your DW, won't let you purchase another timeshare. She is a smart consumer. What do you feel is the true value of all your timeshare purchases? Good luck and give your DW, a big hug.

I’ve made some great purchases and some not so great ones. My best ones were the Lagunamars and retroing them, my worst one is ironically my first purchase, a developer Hilton BI unit.
In retrospect, the Hilton one was the one that started getting me to vacation a lot more and I wouldn’t have landed into the TS world without it. Then after that purchase I got a job abroad that allowed me to work remotely a good amount so now I work a month in Cancun or Hawaii. I see my TS as a mobile vacation home.
It’s cheesy, but the true value is I spend a lot of time with my family now. I cannot put a value on that. I also see it as I’m getting an apartment with hotel amenities for a cost of the hotel room.

But why would you ever enroll when you can rent points? Do you elect all of your weeks every year? This is a very poor value vs. using the weeks themselves or locking off and trading.

You are free to do what you want and I respect that. Your argument could also be used to avoid buying a home, a trailer, a car, or other property because you think it's the best deal for you. You can also live on rice and beans to satisfy your needs. That's all ok and nobody really cares about your decisions.

But, we built and tailored what we have "to achieve our objectives" which include the ultimate use/access to the Marriott Abound product. We use our owned weeks with an assurance that we will get multiple concurrent reservations for the dates we want every year - everyone doesn't want this but it is essential to us. We have also maximized our options so we can do everything you can do plus get the earliest access to what we want. If we want cash, we can rent out easily. If we want a points or week reservation, we are at a tier that enables special options. We can roll our resources up to three years out. We experience less risk in our transactions and don't need to quibble about $.50 per point buys and uncertainty from others.

Our investment is tolerable for us with a reasonable blended MF and a reasonably low cost per point over the entire portfolio.

So, do what you will with all good wishes from me.

Dean - Was looking back at this stream and wanted to express appreciation for your post. It helped us as we did make a transaction and feel our portfolio is now as good as it could be with the ultimate flexibility to meet our needs and the needs of our adult children and their families.

Sorry I am a bit slow to follow all that. I understand what you have achieved, just didn't understand why you needed each and every week you own enrolled, and still do not, especially with the amounts of money needed to achieve that. I also don't see how you needed to enroll everyone of your weeks given your use pattern, and to reach the goals you have described.

Also not understanding your rice and beans comment as I never said you should go to Motel 6 instead of your timeshares. One person can buy a BMW for $75,000, while another pays $90,000 for the exact same car. I'd rather be the former than the latter. But enjoy your spending, it seems to be important to you.

In the beginning timeshareing force me to take a full week relaxing vacation with my family. Liked you my first timeshard purchased was from a developer, Then I purchased a lease timeshare condo in Atlantic City, NJ on the boardwalk.
I got hooked and purchased a resale timeshare. After, I learned about the TUG WEBSITE. Do I still liked traveling using my timeshare ?100% YES.

We love timesharing , we always exchanged into a 2 or 3 bedroom villa, with a full kitchen, with a washer & dryer, 2 or 3 bathrooms, with a living room and dinning area. Their is no true real estate value in owning a timeshare, but the many unforgettable memories with my spouse, our son and now my Granddaughter and our two grandchildren are worth more than any dollars amount I can calculate.
