Are there any discounts for upgrading your Interval membership to Platinum? My platinum membership expires on 12/31/25 and I need a guest certificate for an exchange in 2026 and it's charging me for it even though I have 4 free guest certificates remaining on my membership. Looks like I have to use my free guest certificates on exchanges during 2025.

You aren't looking for an upgrade discount. You are looking for a renewal discount and I don't think I've seen any recent discounts for renewal. At most one time during a Daily Deals many years ago they offered a 10% discount for a renewal. You need to be four months expired to qualify as an upgrade. So chances are you won't be able to find any discounts.

This is the reason we often have to just pay full price for Platinum. We can't wait till we are four months expired to renew. We often have to pay for a unit size upgrade and can't wait till we are eligible for an upgrade.

Free guest certificates are based on travel date but unit size upgrades are based on transaction date.

Actually I am looking for a platinum upgrade discount. My Interval membership expires on 12/31/26 but my platinum membership expires on 12/31/25. I need to upgrade to platinum for 2026. Sounds like there are no discounts for upgrading to platinum?

But you're currently Platinum. So it isn't an upgrade, you would be renewing your Platinum membership beyond 12/31/2025. II considers this a renewal, not an upgrade. There are often discounts offered for upgrades to Platinum, but not extending Platinum membership.

Ok, you're right, it's renewing the platinum option, not upgrading. Thanks for your help.

Absent a discount, here is no need to renew your Platinum early. You can add your guest certificate later. There is no incentive to add your guest certificate early. I would not wait until the day before the exchange, but there no necessity to add it more than a couple of weeks before the exchange.

I have a meager renewal offer. RFID holders for Passport and CC and a bonus week certificate. Are the bonus weeks any better than freebie ACs? The offer is in my Vistana corporate account.

My personal account has never gotten any kind of platinum renewal offer.

Yes, they are typically better than the bonus AC's. You can see 12 months out, and you can place a request with it.

We've found that the ACs from promo are better than the freebie ones they hand out. However, sometimes the promo ACs are 59 day flexchange restricted.

Just a data point, when I added a new MGC unit to my portfolio, they offered me a 3 year renewal with platinum for around $450 and waived the fee to add the unit. They said they do this every once in awhile when you add a new unit to your account

I have an AC from promo that was good for 1 year, but only lets me search 59 days out.

I went back and checked...the AC I got for platinum renewal was restricted to flexchange. The bonus AC for depositing my unit is the one that can see 12 months out. Although limited to flexchange, the platinum bonus AC could see more Disney inventory than the deposit ACs last summer. Sorry for the misinformation!

Interval typically requires that free guest certificates be used during the active Platinum membership year, not for future years. Since your Platinum expires on 12/31/25, the free guest certificates must be used for exchanges occurring in 2025. For 2026 exchanges, you'd need to renew or upgrade your Platinum membership to access new guest certificates. Discounts on upgrades may vary—contact Interval directly for current offers.

Interestingly, their discounts and stuff are kinda all over the place. It is true that the free guest certificates are only valid for exchanges and getaways through the expiration of Platinum membership. I think the same is true of Getaways $50 discount for Platinum members. If you try and book one that is after your membership expires, they ask you to upgrade to save the money. However, reduced upgrade fees on exchanges are based on your status at that time. So even if your exchange is after your Platinum expires you can get the discounted upgrade fees if you are Platinum at the time you book the exchange.

This is correct. You have to renew the platinum membership if it expires prior to the date of your getaway otherwise you have to pay the regular price.

The pot has been sweetened again. RFID nonsense, Bonus week and 50% off a Getaway. I'd prefer 2 for 1 but I might do this. I book enough Getaways in Palm Desert to make it worth it.

Well, Not accurate. You get to select one of those. That wallet is pretty tempting!

I renewed last year and received the 50% off Getaway and there are many undisclosed restrictions. I'll find the email from Mark and will post.

Here it is:

OMG what a total joke! Seriously, what’s left after all the exclusions?
The only resort that is on my list of places to go again that is not on that list is Marriott in Los Suenos. Those Getaways do not appear often. Needless to say, I am very unlikely to be able to take advantage of this offer. Also, the most upsetting is I could not find these exclusions anywhere and only found out when I tried to use it for Marriott Grand Chateau.

Anyone seeing offers or discounts for Platinum renewal?

The Marriott Los Suenos is the only resort I’d return to that’s not included, and it's rarely available through Getaways. Unfortunately, I probably won’t be able to use this offer. What’s most frustrating is that the exclusions weren’t clearly stated — I only discovered them when I tried booking the Marriott Grand Chateau.

Is this really the best renewal options available? I paid the same $396 in 2021, so I suppose I should be thankful it's not more expensive, eh? I don't need it soon, but mine has already expired. I suppose I should wait for 4+ months after expiration, so they might offer me a promo.

I just renewed for 5 years and if you call and ask for any promotion, they will give you 50 dolloar off.
