Does anyone have any experience with Arclight Marketing Group out of Florida? They are supposedly one of just two companies licensed to sell timeshares by bringing them to a presentation format. The cost is about $3000 up front and they sell within 90 days. You receive sales proceeds plus your out-of-pocket costs. I am skeptical of anything to do with timeshares but they certainly sound legit. I'm waiting for the contract so that I can review it.

Get out now! This is a common scam that we see every day. They are going to ride off into the sunset with your money and you will never hear from them again!

You should cut them cold and block them on your phone and email and have no more contact with them. Don't keep responding or you will be ID's as and "easy mark," and lots more scammers will contact you. Seriously - don't even respond to their next contact to say you aren't interested.

Let's break this down:
1. 'licensed to sell timeshares' Anybody can sell a timeshare; even you. Most aren't real estate and no licenses are required or even needed.
'presentation format': don't all sales involve a 'presentation format' in some way or other?
2. How can they guarantee it will sell within 90 days?
3. 'Your receive sales proceeds + out of pocket, i.e. their fee from the proceeds". Nope. THEY receive their fee out of the sales proceeds.
4. "the cost is $3000 UP FRONT". this is the biggest red flag of all. Any up front fee is a scam. As I stated earlier, reputable sales folks will take their fees from the sales when it's completed.

So list your timeshare on Tug. Pay $15 to join in gratitude of all the good advice you are getting. Save $2985. Your timeshare may not be worth much or it may be worth a bunch. It all depends on what you own. There may be a quick sale, or you may have to work at it; again, it all depends on what you own.

They'll tell you what ever you'd like to hear in order to get you to fork over $3,000. They'll never sell it within 90 days. And, I sincerely doubt you'll even be able to find them after 90 days.

Keep your hands in your pocket and do not pay ANYONE upfront money to sell your Timeshare. There is no incentive for anyone to do anything once they steal that hard earned money from you. They'll take it and take a nice vacation on your dime and you'll never hear from them again.

@MCSunshine This company is out to steal the upfront fee and have taken a common playbook - lie, collect upfront fees, and pretend to “market” the timeshare. When they cold call, they use scripts to lie about themselves and what the promise to do.

I Googled “Arclight Marketing Group Deltona FL” and their website doesn’t even come up. This TUG thread comes up but not their website. They don’t care, they just want to dial for dollars. You would think that they would need employees skilled and licensed to sell, as they promise, but they are looking for telemarketers. This is from Salary.com:

“We are hiring closers and offer great leads, hours, and a fun work atmosphere! We are seeking individuals who are ambitious and eager to learn. Any telemarketing or sales experience is preferred, however, it is not required as we are willing to train if needed.”

The BBB created a profile because of reviews and a complaint, all of which are negative.

Finally, the owner is Philip Kayler of Florida. Limited info on him but I do see a LinkedIn profile for a “Kayler Phillip” of Florida whose only job listed is “unemployed”. Could it be him? Don’t know but I wouldn’t be surprised.

I wouldn’t be surprised if that LinkedIn profile is Arclight’s owner because I was looking at another similar scam company a few weeks back. I found that owner’s LinkedIn profile which was last updated 10 years ago. At that time he was a 31 year old community college student.

Sadly, the timeshare industry brings out very bad people who see easy bucks, and little risk, by stealing from timeshare owners.

My father unfortunately fell prey to Arclight and paid them - first the 1k initial fee, then a subsequent 2k. I can confirm they are a complete scam and liars. Christian Boughton was our contact and then Eric Etayo. They claimed they worked with Chicago Title Company as the escrow agent, but Chicago Title never heard of them, and they could not name a single Chicago Title office or individual they had ever worked with. They claimed they were open for business for 8 years, but the secretary of state's office says they were incorporated 3 years ago. Christian kept telling me about his license and gave me his purported license number, but I could never find it on the state website, and even Christian couldn't help me find it. I am not even sure Christian Boughton is his real name. It was also one lie after the next about supposed offers that were going to come in and never did. My father cancelled before the 10-day deadline, but of course Arclight did not return the money. Now he is working with his credit card company to get the money back. Do not do business with Arclight. They are a complete fraud.

First of all, your father is lucky to have you assisting him. Hoping that the credit card company can see through the facade of a marketing company to side with your father. Make note of all the lies and discrepancies as it may come in handy with the dispute.

These scammers hide behind the so called “marketing” business. They do nothing to market the timeshare, they just call and lie to obtain upfront fees. The police don’t know that of course. Because of that, the Police can do nothing because to them it is a civil matter with it being a case of a consumer not being happy with the services being provided. If you want to help other potential victims, file a complaint with the BBB and file a complaint with the Florida Attorney General.

These scammers may or may not actually be in the USA. If they're in Africa then you're spinning your wheels and wasting your time.

I am not an I.T. guy but if you obtain an IP address you "may" be able to narrow down where they may be physically located.

Arclight was the code name for B-52 strikes in Viet Nam. A totally spectacular thing to see, even from three or four miles at sea.
