Booking at non-home resort with float week points

What are the booking restrictions on float week points, when booking at a non-home resort?

I own at Siesta Key and normally book my float week at Siesta Key. This year I have held back some float week points to be able to try a different resort, but honestly, I have no idea what restrictions I will face -- i.e. how far in advance I can book, latest date I can book etc.

Help? These are 2026 float week points. Ideally, I'd like to book something in winter 2027. Will that be possible?

One thought might be to book a week with float points and use the cash to rent elsewhere. The rationale for doing this would be that your resort likely would rent for more per week than other resorts in the Hyatt system. So you might come out ahead financially.

If that is not of interest, to my knowledge float points are not restricted. You can book anything available at the 12 month mark. There is a spike in availability at that time, and a bigger spike at 6 months ahead of check in date. You also can (and should) set up a waitlist.

Whether you’re likely to be successful depends on where and when you want to travel. You’re a bit late to be starting the process. But some resorts like Carmel have good availability in winter.

Thank you! This helps.

I do not know how float week points work. However, it would be important for you to know the dates of when you can book any available time at any resort, and when those points become restricted use points. If your points relate to your ownership in 2026, I doubt that they would still be able to book time in the winter of 2027.
