This was delivered to my email today.
I don't think that residing in Germany would prevent someone from being verified.
Don't think that my email is available from the vacationpointexchange since I don't post Ad's.
One possible scenario is if in the past I may have posted an Ad to request to rent points?
Sort of wondering how this bad actor associated my email with vacationpointexchange.

@StevenTing please read this for your awareness.

Also the price per point is low.

He wants to be verified but I told him no. As he does not reside in the US. I will no longer verify someone that does not reside in the US.

You must have contacted him at some point in the past and he’s likely searching his email history to find prior contacts.

At least that's legitimate reason as to how and why.

Thanks for the update. But I am still suspicious since you also don't verify non US residents. Not in the market at this moment either for MVC points.

Thanks again.

There was a time that a lot of scammers were listing from outside the USA. Not saying this person is a scammer. As I recall, Steven actually blocked non US IP addresses at one time given the large number of scammers.

There are certainly some honest folks in overseas locations who rent out their MVC points. I rented points from a guy in France that I found on VPE last year, and it was a smooth transaction. For those folks, and for those who rented from them, it's unfortunate that they won't be able to list on VPE any more. But I understand the unfortunate necessity of using very blunt tools in order to reduce the likelihood of scammers making it onto the platform. I am sure that @StevenTing did not make that decision lightly.

I imagine the guy who sent the email which spurred the original post in this thread is also an honest renter, he's just trying to deal with the fact that he no longer has a channel to find people who might rent his points. Like I said, it's unfortunate all the way around.

Don't know this guy from anywhere. I don't ever recall his acquaintance. He has no business sending out cold emails to me.
The From and To address is the same.

You might want to obfuscate this persons personal information?

Steven,
Has he posted previous transactions? Are there any prior adverse posts about him? totally understand your non US rules, but maybe there are others that can vouch for prior successful transactions as he claims?

OK. Upon further investigation I found an email from Mr Ferguson from 2021.
I did find that I had indeed exchanged emails with this individual.
Removed his personal info.

Yes I found previous email exchange as result of VPE inquiry. Edited the title and revised the 1st post to remove my original questionable issue.
