Hello all, We are heading to Disneyland Paris for four days in the summer and have some questions we are sure you fine Tuggers can answer: 1) what is the cheapest source of tickets to Disneyland and WDW Studios? We are based in the US if that makes a difference; 2) is taking a train the best way to get to “downtown” Paris? If so, what is the cheapest rail ticket source and is it best to purchase a multi-day pass? 3) Has anyone taken the train from the resort to Barcelona Spain?

Any suggestions for a four-day itinerary is most appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Tom

Has anyone taken the train from the resort to Barcelona Spain?

I was on the train from Paris to Barcelona in November. Search for your trip at https://www.sncf-connect.com/en-en/train-ticket and https://www.rome2rio.com/map/Disneyland-Resort-Paris/Barcelona#r/Train-via-Lyon

You will find several train options, choose whichever fits your schedule best. I suggest pricing an Uber or equivalent from the resort to the departing Paris train station as an option, especially if you opt for the SNCF/TGV inOui train departing from Gare du Lyon as there are no direct trains from the resort station. Depending on your date of travel, there is a Renfe train option from the closest train station to the resort to Barcelona with a connection in Lyon, though it may be more expensive than the direct train from Gare du Lyon.

Any suggestions for a four-day itinerary is most appreciated.

Realize that the resort is not close to downtown Paris. You will find RER local trains which take about 35-40 minutes each way. However, note that there are occasional interruptions. During my trip, two of my friends went to Paris for the day and on their return the train abruptly ended half way due to an emergency (all trains on that route stopped there for many hours, until the issue was resolved). So, I drove out to pick them up and it took at least 45 minutes each way for me to get them. The likelihood of that happening during your trip is low, but thought it worth mentioning.

Are you traveling for four days total, or four days in Paris? If four days in Paris, my main suggestion would be to not stay at the resort… in my opinion, it is just too far away to be able to fully enjoy the city for more than a day.

IMHO you'll be hard pressed to find new things to do on that fourth day. You can easily do Disneyland Paris in two days...though a third day does let you experience the things you liked best (and are different than WDW and DL) a second or third time.

1) what is the cheapest source of tickets to Disneyland and WDW Studios? We are based in the US if that makes a difference;
When we visited Disneyland Paris in 2016 we bought 3 day park hoppers from Attraction Tickets Direct out of the UK. No idea what would be best now.

2) is taking a train the best way to get to “downtown” Paris? If so, what is the cheapest rail ticket source and is it best to purchase a multi-day pass?...
Certainly yes on weekdays and yes-ish on Saturday and Sunday as well (though the time savings of taking the train are less profound). That said, if time and money allow I would instead recommend staying in Paris for two or so nights before visiting Marriott's Village d'Ile-de-France.

We Ubered into Paris. Allowed us to get picked up at resort and dropped off exactly where we wanted to start the day.
Same for return, got back to Marriott not the station and then waiting for another ride from there.

If you are planning to visit the Musee Orsay or l’Orangerie, suggest getting the membership (Called Carte Blanche)
Allows you to skip the lines, saved a bunch of time.

Same thing for Versailles. It was great not to have to worry about lines or times and to be able to go in and out the back entry and not worry about having only one ticket for entry.

Plus you get discounts at gift shop and cafe

Hi. Ty. May I ask the cost per each way?

Thanks everyone so far for the suggestions. Is it worth seeing the two parks or should we just focus on the one?

We are staying at the resort for four days in a row before moving on to Barcelona.

We did both, but we were able to see everything we wanted in the Studios Park in half a day, so returned to Disneyland for the remainder of the second day for a total of 1.5 days at that park. Get the park hopper ticket so you can go between the parks for this option.

With only four days, I'd suggest spending two at Disney then moving to a hotel in Paris before your train to Barcelona. That would save you lots of time in transit not just on the days you visit the city but also on your departure day to Barcelona.

Bring good walking shoes.

Hi. Ty. May I ask the cost per each way?

Uber can cost ~€50-100 each way, depending on time and demand. At least, I think that's what I saw when was there.

We did both parks in a single day as part of a larger trip to Paris. One day certainly wasn't enough to see everything but it let us see the highlights. Both are certainly worth visiting. Disneyland Paris is very similar to Magic Kingdom and Disneyland (CA). I will say Hyperspace Mountain was my favorite version of the 3 I have ridden- way more fun than either US version.

The Studios park has many more unique offerings you won't find in the US. Mickey & the Magician was one of the best shows I have ever seen at any Disney Park- really enjoyed that.
RC Racer, Avengers Assemble and Crush's Coaster are all roller coasters that are unique to Paris only. Tower of Terror is also one of my favorite rides so I enjoy that at the Studios Park as well.

Taking the train from either the Disneyland Paris station or the Val d'Europe station into Paris is very easy. We purchased the weekly Navigo Pass as it was the cheapest option.

IMHO you are trying to do too much in too few days.

Hi. Ty. May I ask the cost per each way?
Wednesday trip was 74 euro there and 79 back.

As for Disney. My daughter was a Cast Member at WDW and has some friends who are cast members who have visited.
Basic response to questions on if we should go: If you have ever been to WDW and Disneyland in US you will be disappointed. It is ok but mostly MEH.
Food is below average and everything is just a near miss.

Now that I understand that you're spending four days at Marriott's Village d'Ile-de-France not Disneyland Paris my suggestion would be a day in Paris, a day at each of the parks (more likely 1 1/3 days at Disneyland Paris and 2/3 of a day at WD Studios Park), and a day doing 'something else'. Well actually my #1 suggestion continues to be staying in Paris for 2 nights but I don't know your schedule or the composition of your travelling party.

For our party of four we found it less expensive to rent a car at the train station and drop it off at CDG than to arrange transportation everywhere...I don't know if the same would be true for you (assuming you're flying into CDG and taking the train to Barcelona afterward).

We had the exact opposite reaction. We thought Disneyland Paris was great. The food was okay, but as expected. And, admission was about 50% of the cost of Disney parks in the US. It's less expensive for me to fly to Paris, stay a week, and visit the parks than to do the same in Orlando, and I'd much rather explore France than Florida!

We also loved DLP. I'd also do 1 day Paris, 2 days DLP/DS, and then leave 4th day open. You could go back to Paris, have a down day at the resort, take the bus from DLP bus stop to Provins (medieval village/castle) via a lovely ride thru countryside or rent a car (at DLP train station or nearby hotel) and drive to Fontainebleau and/or Vaux le Vicomte. There are a number of posts about things to do while staying at Marriott DLP.

I agree that DLP and WDSP are great. There are things that are unique to Disneyland Paris and other attractions like the Haunted Mansion (sorry...Phantom Manor) that are quite different and very much worth experiencing.

But I disagree about the food. We were taken aback by how awful the food was (with the exception of the Bistrot Chez Rémy). We found it to be bizarrely, unimaginably bad...even if you have been subjected to off-brand amusement park food in the US. Do yourself a huge favor and book a lunch reservation at Rémy...or two.

Basically what others said. We stayed in Paris last summer (Novotel Eiffel Tower) for a few days to see the city then took the RER out to Chessy. Train tickets are relatively cheap, but we had to Uber from the hotel to the right RER station (by Arc d'Triomphe) as it would've been too much with kids and bags to do otherwise.

We stayed 2 nights at the MVC and did one day at the parks - bought the park hopper and paid for Lightning Lanes or Express Pass or whatever it is called. Did basically everything we wanted in one day then. We used MVC transportation to the parks, but Ubered back rather than waiting. DLP tickets you likely won't find cheaper anywhere else, Disney doesn't really need to do discount tickets through 3rd Parties. There is a ticket desk at the MVC you can talk to but we had already bought ours on the app in advance.

Totally disagree. I have been to DL & DW multiple times plus DLP. I did not find DLP disappointing at all. Hyperspace Mountain was my favorite of the 3 space mountains I have ridden by far. Phantom Manor was unique and enjoyed compared to the other 2. and the Studios park had several unique roller coasters that you can't ride anywhere else. I also really enjoyed Mickey & the Magician and the Pixar Musical as well.

I can't wait to go back when the transformation of the Studios Park to Disney Adventure World is completed. then it will truly be a great park I'm sure.

I will agree that the food was kinda meh, but we also only had one day so we just ate quick serve meals to maximize out time doing attractions.

We are staying at the resort for four days in a row before moving on to Barcelona.

4 days is so little time- There is just so much to see and do. We spent 7 days there in the fall and only did one day of Disney. Did one day in Reims and visiting Champagne Houses, did at day at Versailles and then spent the rest of our days in Paris.

If you truly want to see all at both parks I would plan 2 days at DLP and 2 days in Paris. If you are ok with just seeing the highlights of both parks you could do 1 day but you will have to skip things for sure. I wish we had planned 2 full days but my wife insisted on only 1. We want to go back with our kids once the construction is completed on the Studio Park so I know I'll be back.

For a day or 2 in Paris you will have to make hard choices as well. Personally I would skip the Louve and do the Muse de Orsey instead. I enjoyed it way more. Obviously do the Eiffel Tower and go to the top. Notre Dame was still closed when we were there but I would certainly have visited if it were open. The view on top of the Arc de Triomph is also a can't miss. I would do Eiffel Tower during the day and Arc de Triomph at night to see the city both ways. I would say the Saint Chapelle is a must do as well- the Concierge is right next door, but if you are pressed for time I would skip that and just do Saint Chapelle.

The catacombs was really cool- but not sure you can fit that in. We saw a show at Crazy Horse- super fun! Adults only- not sure if you are traveling with kids or not. We also took a boat tour on the canal and river that was enjoyed. It was 2 hours or so.

I would skip Versielles with only 4 days.

We found the RER Train to be very efficient and easy to navigate. We had a rental car so we just drove from the MVC resort to the nearby Val d'Europe and took the train from there. But if you don't have a car the resort has a shuttle you can reserve or there is a city bus stop you can walk over to as well. I am unsure how late either runs so just check the times if you are staying in the city late. Navigo is cheaper than the tourist pass they sell. They have a daily pass, a weekly pass, or a monthly pass. I forget the pricing specifics though- we bought the weekly pass.

DLP version of Big Thunder Mountain was the best! Paris version is a wild roller coaster. Hyperspace mtn was good..Just the themeing was off. There are still remnants of the previous theme from Jules Vern ride.

I thought the food was good for the price. And the park entrance fee very reasonable.

We enjoyed ourselves enough that we are going back next year.

We stayed a week at MVC and did not have a car. We took an Uber from CDG to Marriott. We used Navigo pass for the week we were at MVC to get to Paris and Disneyland. The bus stop is a 5-10 minute walk depending on where you villa is. Then it is about a 12-15 minute bus ride to DLP and train station. RER is about 35 min ride into Paris. The RER runs at least till 1am from Paris to Chessey and then bus back to MVC.

Take the bus or walk to the next village past the MVC stop. Nice little shopping center with market, restaurants and bakeries. Buy some groceries and fresh baguettes (1 euro and one is not enough. We ate one loaf waiting for bus back to mvc) for some snacks in unit. Groceries are cheaper there than even in Orlando.

After our week there, we rented a car and visited Caen, Normandy and the countryside for a week. We had a blast and will be back next year for a month at MVC Disneyland with no car. Wife and I don't mind the commute in/out of Paris.
