Once the process has completed and your contracts have been cancelled, you will no longer be the owner and you will have no rights in connection with those contracts that are relinquished.

Should you have any follow up questions we would be happy to assist you.

interesting, what/where do you own?

That is so exciting!!!! I contacted the Transition program this morning about 3 of my contracts, which total 33,000 points and those of us that may apply now may not be as lucky as you are. I was told they are back on Pause and do not know when it will start up again. I was also told that the fee rate for Transitions has changed and calculated my fee rate for the above mentioned points to be $10,600. So - $3200 a contract. I was energized there for a minute - and very happy for you!! Thinking I will still be walking away from my points next year.

This was a learning experience. I applied March 2024, I emailed April, June, then September then told it was on hold. I decided to let 2025 come and pay 2025 maintenance. Then I got the Green light.

I shipped the documents with Tracking and already paid the $1000 fee.

Now I just need to wait 4 weeks for it to officially be terminated.

I went to Hawaii 5 times so I don't feel that ripped off.

they want you to pay $10,600 to get out of it? ridiculous!

Stop bragging until you receive your final documents. Then you can say I do not own a timeshare with Hilton.

Bragging was the wrong word. I’m sorry for using that word. When you received your final paperwork’s then you can said free at last, I’m free of owning my timeshare.
No more yearly MF’s, No more Timeshare Presentation. I’m Free of my timeshare. LOL.

I paid the $1000, ill email them next week to check on the status. I had to go to a notary. I also made copies just incase it got lost. I used UPS with tracking and saw that it arrived Monday of this week.

We got our notice about 10 days ago. Application was put in a year ago. This will be the third contract we have put through the process. At this point in our lives, we just want to reduce our points and not leave the system completely. Because we are not ending all of our contracts, we did not need to cancel any existing reservations or pay any additional maintenance fees.

Hawaii collection 17000 points

I spent like $85,000 in 3 years, which put me in Debt.

I think I would also want to also get out if I were spending $28,000 per year.

Not sure why it was so expensive each year unless the air fares really pushed things up for you.

@Magumba - were you able to use your timeshare in 2024 or did you have to pay the maintenance fees and just let those points go to waste? And did you pay the 2025 fees without use, too?

I'm asking because I put in a request in November 2024 and got the email that it was paused. I had originally put in a request in January 2024, but it was denied because I hadn't pre-paid all of my maintenance fees. I was on the monthly payment program and wrongly assumed they would reach out for me to pay the maintenance fees in full and then move forward instead of just an immediate denial.

I called a few months ago and was told it was still paused (even though you all are getting approvals). I emailed today, asking if it was still paused, and if so, could I use my points or would they deny if they "suddenly" resumed the program while my reservations were active. They replied that it was still paused and that I shouldn't use my account at all while in transitions. If I have a future reservation when they resume, my case will be denied.

My suspicion is they will immediately resume the program (just for me) as soon as I make a reservation and deny my request (restarting my clock). Based on your story and timing, it seems like they want to get a full year of maintenance fees out of you, without use, and then approve you once you pay the next year's fees.

@dhartford - interesting that they let you use the share and not have to pay the full fees. I guess as long as the contract your were giving up was "covered" you were good.

I used it in 2024 while I waited none in 2025

And did you pay the 2025 fees without use, too?
Yes once Jan 1st Hits they billed me $4,000

Just paid the maintenance in Full then wait, F the program. Im really happy this is all over.

Similar Story. Helping my Dad get out of his timeshares and contracts which he hasn't used for over 10 years.

Applied May 2024 for the Hilton Transitions program by phone and was accepted (2024 maintenance fee and late fee were paid) but shortly thereafter was informed the Transitions program was "on pause"

Was notified (and verified with each subsequent phone call) that he didn't have to pay the 2025 annual maintenance fees since he was added to the Transitions program (even while "on pause"). He would still receive a maintenance fee bill by mail and notifications, late fees, etc. but to ignore them (which he did). Do ensure if you have autopay that you remove the payment method. They stated the 2025 maintenance fees would all go away when his transitions paperwork was processed.

Made several queries by phone every two months to check status through the end of 2024 but was told Transitions program was still "on pause"

Jan 2025 Still "on pause"

Feb 2025 Still "on pause" (but was informed they were coming out of "Pause") and should expect something soon.

March 2025 Received Formal email discussing process to relinquish his contract. A package of documents to sign would be sent within the next month. However, he never received (or never realized he received) a package by mail of the documents to cancel his contract.

April 2025 Contacted transitions by phone and asked if they could resend the package and paralleled it by email. Got both this time. Three documents to sign with a notary required on two of them. Sent them by USPS with tracking .

May 2025 Received an email with documents attached and processed the documents and paid the $1000 fee (got an email receipt)

June 11 2025 Logged in to the Hilton Grand Vacations The Club & Owners (Formerly Diamond Resorts) website and it now states: "There are no active memberships associated with this account." Last week his membership was still active and he could view all areas.

So just waiting, hopefully, for a similar letter stating he's officially out of his contract.

This was the last of four timeshares/contract that I assisted him exiting. All took concerted effort, persistent phone/emails, and periodic checking status. Each had different processes, and some were more complicated due to passing of his wife, as she was either co-owner or primary owner.

But now all appears to be over. I estimate he spent $20-$30k with timeshare exit companies over the last 10 years who did absolutely nothing more than fill in paperwork and take his money. Wish I had known earlier but glad this is all behind him and there are no more annual maintenance fees.

Good luck to all who use Transitions. It is a way out but not quickly.

I think I would also want to also get out if I were spending $28,000 per year.

Probably included the buy in price for the points.

Give me $85k and I'll send you on a weeks Hawaii vacation every year for five years! 😆
