I must be carrying too much: 2 windbreakers, 2 water bottles, protein snacks, bandaids, cash! I like the idea of less

@TheHolleys87 …the Rafiki elevator? Kidani does have the best community hall too.
@heathpack did you hear anything yet?
@DancingWaters i carry a universal phone pouch with a long strap and card slot. Fits my phone, my photo I.d. And my credit card. Also a water bottle carrier with a long strap. DH does the same. And just a string backpack (we have many from DVC) to hold ponchos, a couple of snacks. We go to parks early in the morning and back to resort for lunch and pool.
The parks will also give you a paper cup with ice if you ask for it (no charge). But as @rickandcindy23 said the water is gross. And soda just makes me thirsty.
Especially if you have a larger travel party of different ages or schedules. No need to head to park or leave park at same time. One parent or grandparent can take a kid back for a nap while others stay, etc. With the cost of a rental car, for us onsite makes more sense now that we're travelling with our kids and their kids. We love Bonnet Creek as well, but only if we're without kids needing car seats. Uber works well if we don't need to worry about kids in car seats.Staying on property is so much better. You can have a leisurely breakfast and then walk over to transportation to get to the parks via bus, boat, monorail or Skyliner. In the afternoon, if you choose, you can head back to your room and relax a while before heading out for dinner and perhaps an evening in the parks.
Look, I love staying onsite. Love it. But there is no dollars-and-cents justification for it, and most of the logistical-convenience arguments are overblown, at best.
The reason to do it is mostly vibes. That's worth something, and I am not dismissing it. But let's not oversell it.
Me too. OKW was my first DVC stay and my first resale purchase. I bought a mere 40 points and then after that stay went out and bought 50 direct. Been adding on resale and direct ever sense. I do occasionally purchase direct when I cannot get a contract that I want.Speaking of vibes.
Back when I was first putting together my exchange portfolio, I advocated for adding one more trader to the set. My wife was skeptical, to put it charitably, and we'd had several perfectly wonderful offsite trips. Then, about halfway through our first DVC stay---at OKW, the one and only time we crammed the four of us into a 1BR---we were walking back from the bus stop towards the villa:
"Whatever you have to do to make sure we keep doing this, do it."
I respectfully disagree. In timeshares as with all real estate there simply is nothing that matters so much as location. At WDW the only park we don't walk to is AK...Look, I love staying onsite. DVC was our first timeshare and our first love in timesharing. From what I hear we were the first resale buyer which was then the Disney Vacation Club now OKW. We've had as much as 885 points but now about half that. most of our stays are on exchanges. We do put a value on staying on property but it's more of a feeling than actually convenience. We drive to most parks most of the time anyway with limited exceptions. We enjoy on property and off as each have their advantages of each. But I do put a value to staying at DVC though not nearly as much as some do.Speaking of vibes.

We just had our first Disney trip not staying at a Disney property. We stayed at bonnet creek, and to be honest it really was a very nice resort with lots of amenities to enjoy. We stayed in a 4br presidential and it was very nice. However maybe it’s because we had always stayed at a Disney resort in the past and it’s what we are used to but I really didn’t like having to drive and pay for parking. I will say that driving at WDW was much easier then I had anticipated.Especially if you have a larger travel party of different ages or schedules. No need to head to park or leave park at same time. Congratulations!! Happy Planning! Our Copper Creek contract passed ROFR today.
And just like that our little buying spurt is done!
Congratulations!! Happy Planning!
The only one that really makes it logistically so much easier is Bay Lake Tower for an MK day. MK is annoying to get to when staying offsite, and is especially difficult to leave if staying for fireworks, and BLT really changes that equation entirely.Look, I love staying onsite. Love it. But there is no dollars-and-cents justification for it, and most of the logistical-convenience arguments are overblown, at best.

Getting from BLT to EPCOT is a joy and taking the long Monorail on ‘changeover’ day is one of the small delights of our WDW experience.True. I do like BLT for that reason. But, getting from BLT to any park not named Magic Kingdom is less pleasant.
Only if you can get a seat on the monorail. I have been on that long ride to Epcot from BLT and had to stand the entire way, while 40-something men are sitting in the seats. I started hanging back and not getting into a full monorail for that reason, so I can get a seat. I have balance issues as it is. I don't need to hang on for dear life on a monorail at Disney.Getting from BLT to EPCOT is a joy and taking the long Monorail on ‘changeover’ day is one of the small delights of our WDW experience.
Plus finding our luggage waiting for us at BCV or BWV after our day at EPCOT is always fun. If a bit sad because it means our visit is about half over![]()
Wow! When we ride the long Monorail it’s seldom even close to full.Only if you can get a seat on the monorail….
DVC now only sells them with 2057. The only way you can get a 2042 is to buy it resale.@rickandcindy23, when does your 1000 pt direct OKW contract expire?? I didn't realize they sold them with a different date.
