VV Premiere Status- Is this a good deal?

I just went to the owners update at VV@Parkway. They offered for $5000, I get upgraded to VV Premiere status, plus 35000 rci points every other year ($550 biennial maintenance fees). I like the savings on exchange fees, and they said the resort fees are waived (don't know how true this is) but don't know if it's worth it.

I have no idea what "VV Premier Status" might be or what, if any, actual benefits it provides. However, I am curious to know whether or not this "VV Premier Status" might be a new contrivance since the recent Vacatia buy out of Berkley Group / Vacation Village, or did this "Premier Status" already exist within VV?

it already existed. $5000 isn't a bad price compared to what they usually offer it. I think it is usually sold for about $3000 more than what they would have sold you whatever they were selling. I am not saying it is worth it. It gets you rci platinum type benefits which is worth about $90 a year. It also gets you some reduced exchange fees. It has been a while since I have seen the specifics. It might be something like two at $99 and then unlimited VV to VV at $159 (which is what weeks owners get without any additonal purchase) an extra bonus week so something like 3 per year on those.

@Sn0wbird Did you buy? At $5000 I would be surprised if it was VV premier. They may have started with that offer but when they came down to $5000, my guess is that one no longer came with anything or maybe VV plus and not premier. If you did buy take a very close look at your contract to see what it says about it.

They started at $10k to convert all my points (I have points at VV@PARKWAY and Massanutten) to premier in RCI, plus 75000 RCI triennial points that I need to buy with $1250 maintenance fee once every 3 years. I declined, then before exit, they had another salesman offered $5000. This includes 35000pts biennial with $550 biennial maintenance fees. They said because I already have 92000 RCI points with VV, so I only need a little more to get 100k points, that's what needed to upgrade to premier and the points need to be owned at VV resorts (my Massanutten points don't qualify). The deal includes $0 exchange fees for 1 year, then $99 for two years, then it's $159 after (3 years after promotion rate). Plus two 2-180 days bonus certificates, and 1 free year of RCI membership ($239 saving). They also said with premier status, the resort fees are waived, and it only cost 10000 points to book the week.

I didn't take the deal because I don't know if it's worth the savings, and I don't know if i have to pay extra in RCI membership. If i have premier, can I cancel my RCI platinum level?

I am really surprised they said they could convert Massanutten and I wouldn't believe it without it being in the contract. Massanutten and VV recently broke up their affiliation but even before that they VV couldn't do anything for Massanutten weeks and vice versa. So unless any RCI points you own would be eligible to be combined into the VV premiere, with ll the benefits then I can't see how Massanutten points would work in the program.

Most but not all of what they said applies to Premiere but that 10,000 points certainly doesn't apply to all weeks anymore than it applies without premier. They are also notorious for starting you out with VV premier but when they drop the price they drop the Premier off the deal, while implying that it was still what you were buying at the lower price. If it isnt part of the contract it isn't real and since you never even got to the point of them offering a contract, you will never know but you do know that even if those things were included it wasn't worth it to you at $5000.

You would pay for a regular rci membership and could drop the platinum level because premier (and plus) includes the benefits of rci platinum.

Thank you for the insights. I learned from this forum to not believe anything they said at the sales presentation. The exchange discounts is good but that's limited to VV resorts only. Thanks to TUG, I'm glad I didn't fall for it.

When I got the sales presentation, they were pushing Vacation Village Plus.

Is Vacation Village Premier something different? Or just a new name for what they used to call Vacation Village Plus ?

They told me the Premier is new after Covid.
