Merry Christmas to all! Spending time with my recently-found birth father and family, thanks to 23 and Me. I posted about this before. My father is almost 90 and I haven't really known him since I was a toddler. I looked him up once when I was 18, met with him and enjoyed a visit.
He is very happy that my sister and I have reconnected with him. We also have two new sisters, two new brothers, an aunt, many nephews and nieces, and a whole bunch of little kids that I have yet to memorize names. We get together tonight for a big turkey dinner. I am the oldest of the bunch. It's very exciting. The love! Overwhelming joy.
Tomorrow it's a nice dinner at our house with our kids and grandkids.
Happy Holidays to all my invisible TUG friends (as Don calls you!)
We will unexpectedly be celebrating Christmas at Hilton Head this year though a day late on Thursday. Unexpectedly because our kids/grandkids have so many family and work and school obligations up here in MA, and what's most important is celebrating with them. This year, though, my son-in-law found $75 round-trip (UNBELIEVABLE!!!) fares on Breeze for Christmas Day and New Year's Day, and they couldn't pass up the opportunity. Like I said, it's a rarity and with the grands getting older and into more and more activities, I'll be shocked if it happens again.
So tomorrow morning the kids will be reading letters from their Elves On The Shelf telling them that they're flying in the afternoon to Grandma's Beach House (I'll never get tired of them calling it that!) and then they'll be surprised again when they meet up with me at the airport. They don't know, yet, that Don left here a day ago with all the trappings so our home there will be Christmas-ready for them.
Whatever your holiday, whatever your plans, whether you celebrate on THE day or on A day that works with your schedule, happy happy joy joy to you and yours - and best wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to everybody.
We arrived home in central Ontario from Florida the night before last to a few inches of fresh snow and got a further 6 or 8 inches yesterday and overnight. I have had my snow fix now, it can all go away after Christmas. Counting the days until we head to Belize for some real warmth and sunshine!
Happy holidays, all. And to those health professionals, law enforcement personnel, and other essential workers whose celebrations are postponed or interrupted by your jobs, thank you for being there!
