Any chance of adding "TEMU" to a profanity filter?

Any chance of adding "TEMU" to a profanity filter or otherwise auto-deleting posts that have that word/phrase? Might help to slow down the spam attack you are currently experiencing.

I also suggested this over in the About TUG BBS forum;

I sent Brian a PM within 5 minutes of the first post. I also blocked the new member who is the shil. Haven't seen another post, so I assumed that the problem had resolved, but I guess not by your posts above. Try blocking the individual making these posts.

Blocking/ignoring the user will prevent you from seeing their posts. I did the same thing. I reported the post using the Report link in the bottom left. I find these early morning reports take a while to get taken care of but it does look like the user has been removed and the posts deleted.

Third or Fourth " new member" this week who vomit spams Teemu before 8 am

I have also been using the report button as soon as I see Teemu

I've reported them as well. Keep seeing new registrations, followed by a ton of spam.

Maybe there's a way to limit postings until someone is approved, or has enough "real" posts to be allowed to post without approval? Other sites I read limit posting so newbies can't spam the place. Maybe Tug can do that?

I'm glad to see this thread, I just reported it as well. There are so many spam posts recently.

If the spammer only posted one or two, it wouldn't be so bad. By the time I saw it, the poster had 26 posts. All Temu spam. I wonder if Temu is paying these people to put this stuff out like they paid thousands of "influencers" to do the same. Apparently some of their tactics to get social media influencers to promote them was rather aggressive.

I know TEMU offers free stuff if you get people to sign up and order things, I found that annoying enough I gave up trying to get the free stuff.

can add temu to the spam filter sure!

sadly the spambots get more and more creative as the people that create them are usually working hard to bypass the auto-spam filters implemented by most forums!

also bumped up the delay between registration and first post to a bit longer in hopes it will catch a few more of the bots in the net.

Is there also an option to limit time between posts for new registrants? It seems these spammers post dozens of posts within just a few minutes. I can understand not wanting to limit new registrants too much as many people sign up here after buying an expensive timeshare and time is of the essence.

hmm, i believe there is a post delay limit yes, id have to go look to see what its set at.

*edit yes! doubled that too

Overnight, I saw one poster who registered back in March and didn't comment on any post until last night when they spammed ~15 threads.

This is a great suggestion DaveNV.

So I can’t use Temu as my new swear word on Tug? I can’t reply to a post asking if XYZ company is legit with “This is just another one of those Temu’ing scam companies stealing timeshare owner’s hard earned money. Those Temu’ers should be in prison!”?

They were definitely affiliate links/codes.

bleeping out swear words is a different feature. right now temu is now part of the spam flag trigger setup for new users that will auto-flag the post moving forward.
