Fees for 2024: $7,768.12. This is enough points to book 4 weeks in a 2 bedroom at Kauai Coast at the Beachboy. I added point charts.
Usage begins 2025, fees begin 2025, but you will have use starting 7/2024 to book want you need in 2025, 11 months out for West Club resorts, and 7 months out for Hawaii resorts.
West Club resorts, but Mountainside Lodge is not in West Club:
This is the West Club, including resorts in San Francisco, Napa Valley (Vino Bello), Anaheim, San Diego, and also includes Arizona and Little Sweden in Door County. You can book Oregon (Whispering Woods), and many other resorts, including Kona Coast and Paniolo Greens on the Big Island, Waikiki Marina resort on Oahu, and Kauai Beach Boy on Kauai.
These resorts are very easy to book during your booking window. I have been able to book Kauai Beach Boy oceanfront 2 bedroom without any problem at all at exactly 7 months out. I have two reservations currently for June of 2024. One can be yours.
You can book any California resort at 11 months out because that is your priority window. Hawaii resorts, the window is 7 months.
I have successfully rented Peacock Suites many times, especially the two bedrooms. Vino Bello is very easy to book and is a very popular resort, but the points are higher, and the studios during weekdays are bargain priced at .31 X
This ownership is free to you. We would pay the transfer fees to Wyndham for the transfer.
You get six free housekeeping a year. As long as you book no more than six reservations per year, you won't pay housekeeping at all. Most resorts are about 4,200 or higher points for 7 nights. It's easy to use these without paying HK fees, but I have paid a lot of HK fees because I book resorts that are much less than 4,200 points. For example, Peacock Suites is 2,550 points for a full week in prime season and much less than that in off-season (when we go).
Some resorts have parking fees, especially the resorts in cities like San Francisco and Anaheim.
I don't know if you can access point charts for Shell without an account. But if you have questions, I can probably copy/ paste specific resorts for you and send them via email.
We have owned for about 12 years and are ready to give this all away, but keep in mind that we do have small contracts that add up to the 25,300. We have some that are very small to some that are 5,000 points. You don't have to take it all at once. It's not all or nothing.
I like owning in a points system, because I can book just five nights in places like Anaheim, when all we are doing is visiting Disneyland for weekdays. Weekends are busier because Californians go then. Weekdays are less busy. The lesser expensive times of year, you can book nights for $31 in MF's per night. But using less nights is not necessarily good because you will burn your housekeeping fees (six with this membership) too quickly and will have to pay additional fees.
The price per point is .31 each in maintenance fees for 2024. A full week at Peacock Suites in Anaheim during summer, spring break and during Christmas, which are the busiest times for Disneyland, is .31 X 2,500 points = $775. That is what we have done a lot. We also book full weeks for friends and family for that price. A 2 bedroom for the busiest times of year (3 bedroom is the same price as 2 bedroom) is $1,209. Those 2 bedrooms are very nice. There is a parking fee at Peacock Suites, but if you don't bring a car, you can use the ART (rideart.org) shuttle for a very inexpensive cost to get around Anaheim and to get to/from Disneyland.
I have been a big fan of Shell, and we have used the points for our own trips many times, and it's also been rentable, but not for a profit at all. I haven't made anything renting Shell points, but it's always been okay to come out even. I have rented all of 2023 and 2024 points. Fees wouldn't start until 3/1 of 2025.
Shell points exchange with RCI. You do get a linked RCI account with your ownership. Good values can be found in RCI for resorts in places that Shell doesn't have in their system, like Maui, NYC, Orlando, etc.
Why are we giving these points away? We have Wyndham points that we have to start using more regularly (use or lose or deposit to RCI), and many of these areas are available through Wyndham, so we choose to keep the Wyndham Founder's level of ownership and give these Shell points away. Repetitive resorts in these two systems because Wyndham took over Shell years ago. Still, Shell is a separate entity from Wyndham.
I wouldn't want to start the closing process until early July. I have some Kauai weeks I have reserved to rent, and I have rented a few already. Again, your fees wouldn't start until 3/1/2025. I would pay the fees in full to 3/1. Just a matter of paying the balance for 2024 points in full.
