Just Cancelled a Points Reservation on line

That’s huge! But was it through your reservations history? Because if so, I can’t — we’re going on almost two years of my reservations not loading (and yes, corporate has repeatedly been made aware)

Looks like that's an option for Vistana owners for Abound points reservations, too. Don't have any that I need to cancel right now, but happy to see they've added that functionality.

Thanks for the post. It must have been added sometime within the past 24 hours. It was not there friday morning when I had to cancel a reservation.

I'm seeing the same logging in via Vistana. The option definitely wasn't there the last time I looked a couple of days ago. Finally, something happened with the website that I like!

Yes

Is that instant cancellation, with points returned right away?

Can you also now cancel a legacy week reservation online? Or just points?

I’m happy about this, and at the same time it seems a little counterintuitive from MVCs point of view and their recent efforts. Doesn’t this make it easier for folks to make (and cancel) speculative bookings, knowing they can instantly cancel and not have to go through an agent? I always felt like the difficult cancellation process was intentional.

OTOH I had a cancellation go wrong last year. Since I had a chat transcript to prove that I cancelled, I got the points back and the room sat empty. Perhaps that was happening more than they liked.

Same situation here as well.

One other interesting consequence: Doesn't that mean that new inventory could show up at any time and not just when phone and chat people are available?

Would you please share where on the owners page is the link/option tab to cancel a reservation? I don’t see it for either a points or weeks Reservation.

Thank you.
First go to your existing reservations page by clicking on "USE POINTS' and then 'Points Reservations'

You'll see the link to cancel to the right of a specific reservation

I am wondering if a cancelled unit gets immediately placed right back into inventory or whether it gets held for some reason? I have a one bedroom unit booked with points for a stay we likely will cancel but our friends want to go, but they would like to use their own Club Points. There is currently only a studio unit showing for the dates for our stay so I was thinking about coordinating our canceling of the unit with them (so they can reserve the unit once I cancel).

Speaking from experience, I think it depends on whether there is a waitlist for those dates. I’ve cancelled a reservation wanting to try to shorten it by rebooking lesser days but it never showed up as available after cancelling via phone rep so ended up losing it. Learned my lesson not to assume it will become available.

Thank you, I may just offer to exchange our unit with our friends for a return of Club points, then.

I just did one and it showed up soon after a few minutes. Had to do a refresh, so it may have been sooner. But as others mentioned, someone might be searching at the same time and grab it.

By "refresh" , you just hit the Search button or the browser Refresh button? Thinking of trying it out myself ; )

If someone were searching and find what I just cancelled, I can understand with that. I am also wondering if Marriott has something in play where those w8Lsting auto book it instead.
