Resorts Owned
WKORV
NCV
Main objective: Reserve less than 7 nights, 13 months out. We would love this flexibility!
Current ownership: WKORV 2-bdrm OV (6200 annual Club Points). We have owned this since 2003 and love it, but now access to all the Marriott resorts is very appealing.
Resale NCV 2-bdrm EOY-odd (purchased after 2010, unqualified for Club Points). We are perfectly happy vacationing at NCV every odd year....that's why we purchased it!

Thanks for your input :)

How long have you owned your NCV? If prior to 2010 cutoff date, you might be able to enroll it in Abound for free, get you over the top for Executive. If not, cheapest way might be to purchase Westin Aventuras, enough to elect for 800 Abound points annually. Either that or buy Abound points resale, but you'll likely need to purchase 1,000 of them since they come in multiples of 250. Resulting MFs would be higher than the Aventuras route.

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately we purchased the NCV resale after 2010 (now edited above).

In that case, it's either purchasing Abound points resale or one of the Vistana flex products retail. 1,000 Abound points, resale, would probably cost you at least $7k after factoring in the $3/point junk fee you'd have to pay MVC. Possibly more because I hear that MVC is exercising ROFR a lot on those points right now. Of the flex products, Aventuras is the cheapest both in terms of up-front purchase price and annual Maintenance Fees. Since it's retail, purchase price might have been more expensive than resale Abound, however that may be questionable right now depending on what you can get past ROFR. But either way, point for point, Aventuras MFs will be a bit lower.

Other than the advice from above, have you searched Abound inventory to see whether getting less than 7 nights at 10 months is really an issue for what you want? Inventory changes very quickly and waitlist does seem to work well for getting even the more popular destinations.

Another benefit of purchasing retail like Aventura or 1000 Abound points is that MVC may be able to enroll your NCV to Abound.

Can't enroll a Marriott week by purchasing Vistana products such as Aventuras or Westin/Sheraton Flex. Also can't enroll it by purchasing resale Abound points, it would have to be retail which is waaay more expensive.

I was in the exact same situation as you, I owned a maui week forever and now I’m just doing abound. I bought 49,000 EOY mexico flex to get to executive. I’m happy with the purchase, I used the bonus options in St. John and have taken advantage of the Bonvoy certificates. Next two years I’m throwing everything into abound and already have several reservations.
Feel free to message me, I have the notes

Thank you for the info! I searched Vistana for details on Flex but couldn't find specifics, for example:
1. How many Abound Club Points do receive from electing your EOY 49k Westin Flex?
2. When your Flex is EOY how do they count your electable Club Points every year to reach 7,000/Executive?
3. what are bonus options in St. John?
4. what are Bonvoy certificates?

1. Not sure but it won't be many. Our EY Lagunamar (44,000 SO) gets us 2275 Abound points so maybe you'll get 1000-1250?
2. I think they count 50% every year towards status levels,
3. Bonus options are those you are 'given' when you make a developer purchase. St. John is just where they used them I believe but they can be used anywhere like regular SO (but can't be banked or used to buy resort credits)
4. Bonvoy certificates are the things they offer for purchase when you go to an owners update. I can't remember how many Bonvoy hotel points you get and how much each certificate costs.

I actually bought 52,000 EOY. I originally was going to buy 49,000 EOY but they realized if i bought 52,000 it would be cheaper because I could get a 10% discount.

1. 1731 EOY
2. They divide it by two. So 6200 + 865
3. I used bonus options to go to St. John with leftover options I had.
4. I got to buy Bonvoy Points at a lower cost. 330k for $2275. I can buy 6 of them. It makes out to be $6.89 for a 1000 points
