If anyone has been there recently, how is the construction in front of the resort? We're actually thinking about renting a house that is right across the road.

I'm not sure it will help answer your question, but here's some pictures I've been taking since construction started. The most recent one was taken last month. There is a public access parking lot at the front of the development, and a nice path all the way around the "Great Wall of Poipu", so that house is in a good location. It's also a short walk to Poipu Beach Park.

Looks liked ocean view from the Point at Poipu Resort.
I took this picture from the corridor of Building 3. As you can see, both the houses currently under construction are well behind any of the lanais in building 3 and will not obstruct anyone's ocean view. Of course, houses further down the hill may well interfere with the view.

That is very helpful! The house is in a great location. I love this area but one of the reviews mentioned construction noise 6 days a week. I'm a little wary of that. It looks like this will still be going on next spring when we planned to visit. Of course, only one person complained about the construction. It's on Makanui Rd, one street in from Pe'e. Would you stay there?

Thanks, Art. Did you find the construction noise a problem when you were there?

There were carpenters working, but it wasn't that noisy. It was noisier when they had to jack hammer the lava rock for the foundation, but that's done now.

This is a better view from the Mele Kai house. The first house under construction is on the left. The picture was taken before the 2nd house was started, but you can see the screening around it to the right. Looks like you'll still be able so see whales from you're lanai because the road is in the middle of the two houses.

BTW, if you go down to the Poipu Beach Park early in the morning, you'll see plenty of sea turtles on the beach.

Thanks, Art. That is very helpful. We definitely like walking to Poipu Beach Park. The turtles are amazing! We'll be taking my son, DIL and their two young children, ages 2 and 4.

People have said up to 2 dozen turtles can be on the beach early in the morning. Of course, the monk seals show up too, but usually later in the day.

I am on property. This morning they started nailing up the dust screen on the lot in front of us and I will post a picture later today or tomorrow when more of it gets up. We are in 4-205 and will lose about 2/3rds of the ocean view from our lanai. Haven’t head anything about when they will actually start construction.

Will timeshare guests and local residents still be able to access the beach; when the whole housing development is completed?

There is no beach in front of P@P, but yes Hawaii requires public access to the shoreline. There's a wall all the way around the new development and a gravel path on the outside of the wall. There's even a small public access parking lot next to the entrance to the development. I've seen many guests and locals going for walks around the wall. If you're missing your dog, you're likely to see more than one when you take that walk.

Artringwald, I asked this question after looking at the last photo of the sea turtles walking on the beach. Thanks for sharing your quick reply.

I rather enjoy watching the waves crash on the rocks, so I don't miss being on a beachfront property. Besides, the pool has a beach and mai tai's are available with a very short walk from the pool's beach.

They have finished the dust screening around lot 3. This is now our Ocean View. This will be the view until they get the house built and then who knows what the view will be.

Hopefully, on floors 3 and 4, that fence is less of an obstruction.
