I have been talking with Marc and pricing buying into the RCI points without owning a timeshare. I am very interested and would like to hear from some experiences. The RCI points are offered at .015 per pt. Platinum membership . I bought the Wyndham Discovery package and have enjoyed it.. I don’t mind paying a premium for points and not having to deal with maintenance fees and deeds. Thanks Bill

RCI Points are (I believe) always deeded to something. Who is this Marc? Is that 1.5 cents per point to buy? I am not good at decimals. What are the maintenance fees, and yes, there are maintenance fees. If the fees are 1.5 cents per point, that is not a great deal for fees.
You don't just get points with nothing to show for it and no ongoing expenses.
Platinum is a status you pay RCI for through RCI.
If this guy is letting you rent points from him, that could backfire on both of you.

Looking for anyone that has bought a Pure Points contract from RCI. It is structured like a Discovery package .. you don’t own a timeshare but instead own or buy points. Yes 1.5 cents is not the best bargain but I would not have MF either.
Marc sells the package and advertise on TUG.. I was looking for feedback thanks Bill
I agree with @rickandcindy23 that 1.5 cents per point is high.and that there is no such thing as " pure points" . It is like saying you are getting " pure meatloaf" - not from a cow.
A high ratio to MF -VV Grandview RCI points contract has a MF that results in a cost of.under 1 cent per point.
If your goal is to do the TS equivalent of renting a car only when you need one - this could work - but realize your paying a significant premium.
I don't think RCI allows any purely selling of RCI Points. Anyone doing so runs the risk of their 'buyers' being disallowed check-in, termination of their account and/or eviction from whatever resort they book. If it happens, I am not aware of it.

I have no idea why a person who doesn't want to own a timeshare wants to trade into timeshares.
My RCI Points are all right at 1 cent per point in MF's. Maybe this guy has millions of points and is allowing you to use them for a profit for him, but it's not a great deal. My RCI points' timeshares are not worthless and can be resold for the pittance I paid for them. Just because someone advertises on TUG doesn't give him credence as an expert, not in my book.
I know a lot about timeshare, and I don't claim to be an expert on "pure points" but it's been debunked as bunk a few times on TUG when it's come up. How do RCI Points (pure points) have any claim to anything in RCI if nothing is exchanged for it (as in a deeded timeshare).
I have a bridge I can sell you as well. You can only use it and you have to pay when you use it, of course, because there is a toll. So pay me for my bridge and it's yours. No one will keep you from using that bridge.

It sounds like Marc may have setup some type of system where he owns a bunch of timeshares that are in RCI points and you join a so called vacation club? Thus you don't really own anything but you have a right to use a certain number of points each year. The problem is that you need to pay Maintenance Fees in this type of situation. The underlying deeds will have fees that need to be covered.

I like to keep most of my money making money… stock market, trading, dividends etc. My plan is while my trading payoffs to buy some points and vacation instead of piling up maintenance monthly or yearly bills… Maybe I can buy a “bridge” when I am done !!! Thanks dioxide45 for finding the link . I have the contract and looking it over comparing it to buying etc.

RickandCindy.. I have a question for you . Have you bought any developer timeshare packages? Your MF is at 1cent .. did you factor any of your upfront money into your calculations ?
RCI Europe had a "pure points" program and this was years ago- maybe 15. It was some sort of trust and I was never clear whether rci managed the trust or just leased its name to a 3rd party developer. It was never available in the US so I lost track of it. I don't think that is what this is.

I'm trying to wrap my head around this. So this person rents RCI points (is that even allowed?) but how do you get access to RCI? Do you already have an account or does he share login credentials? Because depending on what you want, RCI may be tough to use. I have access to RCI through my Hilton Grand Vacations ownership. The RCI inventory is ok, but high demand places to get are either difficult to get, or very expensive in terms of points needed. Are you sure that you *want* to use RCI?
Also I looked at the ad. I don't understand what the $199 fee is for, but here is a link to the fees for an RCI points account in case he somehow gets you set up with an account. https://www.rci.com/pre-rci/us/en/help/forms-and-fees/pow-member-fees-us I concur with Dioxide - if you actually become an owner, there will be maintenance fees.

The $199 includes becoming an RCI member with platinum membership. The program is under a Timeshare in Idaho. I was looking for someone to share their experience with Marc or this program. I know the 1.5 cent is not the lowest cost but I have seen many RCI contracts for sale that are more. thanks Bill

There isn't any platinum membership in RCI for $199. I am still confused - either you own and there are underlying maintenance fees in perpetuity or you are renting but then you don't have RCI access. I just don't understand how this works and if I were you I would want to understand, but YMMV. But at the end of the day, you ultimately want to use RCI to book something but with RCI "you can't always get what you want". I think that those of us who answered are just looking out for you. And based upon the responses, so far you are the guinea pig here with the "pure points' program that this guy has. If you go forward, please be sure to post your experience in this thread to add to the collective knowledge.

I hope you are noticing that NO ONE has an answer for you because wise TUG members are not falling for it.
You also said it's in Idaho, which means this is deeded to a timeshare (it may say UDI or some other wording in the contract). The 1.5 cents is the amount of MF's you are paying per point, making it expensive to own that TIMESHARE than most others you can get with more points for your maintenance fee dollar. Again, I am telling you that my points are 1 cent, not 1.5 cents, and that makes a big difference.
I like RCI but don't love RCI. And you will pay exchange fees and an RCI membership every year.

I was wondering if you would share your up front money that it cost you to get your first bargain RCI time share… this will really help decide on buying or going with the Points plan thanks

I first bought Mansfield Country Resort in Australia but don't remember how much I paid, it was when RCI Points was fairly new. I actively searched for an RCI Points contract and this guy had what I wanted. The fees are still under 1 cent per point in MF's. I would say that was 15 years ago. I acquired two of those, totaling 91K points. The fees when I bought were under 7/10 cent per point in MF's. They have skyrocketed (joking) to about 1 cent per point, but not over 1 cent per point.
What this guy could be selling is usage of points because the resort is in need of maintenance fees as people are walking away. He may very well be selling a right to use and not a "timeshare" contract that you aren't obligated to keep but to use. This was discussed before on TUG as a means for an older timeshare that has an "aging" ownership. We have a few of those resorts but have never considered this as an option, and maybe we should. I am on the board of one such timeshare that would work very well, but selling people on the concept could be difficult.
I think it's an expensive option compared to buying Grandview at Las Vegas for much lower maintenance fees, but then you would be stuck with a timeshare you have to dispose of at some point in time.
