Best Place to buy 2,850 ish MVC Points?

I'm around 4,150 ish in MVC points from a previous point purchase and a week purchased 30 years ago. I'd like to get over the 7,000 point threshold so that I can put 13 months out without having to book 7 nights. Does anyone know of the best place to buy 3,000 points? And does anyone have experience with ROFR recently? I'm seeing 3,500 points available on eBay for what will probably be around $5,000 plus the $3,000 in fees. Thanks for any suggestions!

The junk fees are around $3/point - so you’d be looking at over $10k for just those - not $3k.

I doubt you’d get 3500 points past ROFR for only $5k. Expect to be closer to $4/point plus the $3 junk fees. So closer to$25k overall.

One thing to bear in mind is when you see a sales ad for points, the seller wants to make a sale so they can stop paying maintenance fees for the points. They are not concerned with selling them at a price that will pass ROFR and in the end don't care who pays them, you or Marriott. You however could end up investing a lot of time into transactions that Marriott ends up taking over, just for the off chance that you can somehow get a lower price by ROFR at some point. How you approach it is a decision you'll have to make for yourself.

Good point. Thank you!

That makes sense … I probably have to factor in $7 per point probably. Maybe it makes sense to buy a resale and enroll with point purchase directly down the road.

Keep your hands in your pocket and buy resale weeks instead. You won't have the flexibility but you'll save a ton of money..... And if you're still hung up on points then you can think about enrolling them at some point in the future when you can better afford it......

Go buy a bundle at $7-$8 a pt. Get a good week and some incentives. You might end up with more than 2850 but less hassle we have found

How and where would you suggest doing this?
I believe that the bundle being referred to is directly through MVC. The developer (MVC) will sell points at a discount when purchased with a deeded property which will be enrolled. The deeded property can be converted into more points, or you can reserve a week at the location you purchased, or you can put it into II exchange. There are options. Just tell the MVC you’d like to consider a bundle.
As others have indicated, there are pros and cons to this approach - and it is best to run the numbers to make sure a bundle makes sense for both your vacation needs and your pocketbook.

We have done a couple to pick up a week in Hawaii and one for grand vista. We have a rep we have worked with at the resort and while at home who sends us a list frequently as she gets them incase we are interested but we are done adding at this point but always nice to see… I’m sure you can call and ask
