Hello! We have stayed at orange lake one time via a Trade thru RCI. I own with Vacation International. Passed down from grandparents, so no initial cost, just maintenance fees. I see posts regarding people coming and staying at orange lake for several months. Is this common? What is the recommended way to secure enough points to do this ? Buying resale? Thinking future/long term as we eventually would like to "snow bird" in Florida and looking at many options. We LOVED orange lake. Any tips or insight are greatly appreciated.

Well I guess there are a few ways to go about this. If you just want to stay at orange lake then you can buy resale deeds from orange lake. You can get them for pretty much nothing. The second option is to buy resale deeds at the three resorts that transfer the ownership as points in the club. You can then use those points to stay at orange lake or any of the other resorts. The third option is to buy a resale deed that is worth a lot of points or maybe a couple and then buy a package directly from HICV to get those deeds enrolled in their point program. This third option will have the higher up front cost but will get you a lower cost per week if you do it right. I would definitely spend a lot of time researching all the post on this forum.

I have a question for other owners that pertain to this subject. How long of a reservation are we allowed to make? As a premier owner I get some free upgrades. Could I book a whole month at a time and pay one reservation fee and use just one of my free upgrades to go from a one bedroom to a two bedroom? If so I could theoretically book all of January (weeks 1-4) in a 2 bedroom in river island for 256,000 points.

I think they limited it to 30 days online but they can make it longer if you call. And your theory is correct, you could stay the the whole month for that amount of points
