I just made a reservation for 2008 at WKV (Kierland) today at the 12-month point. I was told by the SVO representative that if I cancel or change this reservation after 24 hours I will be charged a $29 cancelation fee. I had never had a SVO reservation rep say this to me. In fact - I recently changed our WKORV reservation and was not charged a fee.

Is this correct?

Also, she told me that I would have to pay my 2008 MFs and taxes to make this reservation, but ended up not charging me. I also had not heard this before - is this correct?

or just more SVO misinformed reps?

At least the maintenance fee part is definitely wrong. I also have changed my reservation after 24 hours without the change fee. I think the fee is only if you are less than 8 months out, but I'm not 100% sure.

I have changed 12-month out reservations many times with no fee. The fee is supposed to apply to 8 months out or less reservations after 24 hours. Perhaps the agent is new and not trained completely?

I have never been asked to pay MFs at 12 months out. This is unusual information. How ridiculous, since we just paid for 2007 and to have to pay for 2008 a month later would be odd. All dues have been due in January since we purchased.

I hope that Starwood is not changing its policy, and if it is, that it communicates with owners. This is Starwood's biggest problem, lack of communication.

I also reserved my WKV today at the 12-month point. I was not asked to pay my 2008 MF's nor was I informed of any $29 reservation change/cancellation fee.

It appears to be an absolute certainty that at least one of our reps was misinformed.

Mystarcentral is pretty unclear on the subject. It indicates that you can cancel a reservation only within 24 hours of making it for no fee.

Q: What is the cancellation policy for reservations?

A: Reservations may be cancelled within 24 hours of making the reservation request without incurring a fee unless the reservation was made less than 30 days prior to the check-in day.

But then, it goes on to say that there is a $29 fee for reservations cancelled less than 30 days from check-in.

Q: What is the fee currently charged in the case of a reservation cancelled less than 30 days prior to the check-in day?

A: The cost is currently $29 per cancellation.

I was told they only charge a cancellation fee if you are a repetitive canceller.

I was also told the maintenance fee is only required on the usual due date, no matter when you make a reservation for an SVN resort.

If you deposit your week for an "outside" exchange, then you need to pay the maintenance fee in advance.

Last year I had some leftover staroptions so I contacted SVO to change one of my reservations from a small to large 1BR, the dates stayed the same. They told me they had to treat it as a cancellation and charged me $29. This was the first time I cancelled a reservation and it was done >60 days before arrival.

When I made an SDO Resv. yesterday, the Rep. said I had a balance of so many dollars on my MF's. I told her I had just paid my 2007 MF, and that it couldn't be right. She put me on hold, and then came back, and said it was my 2008 MF. I said, "I know, but it's not due until next Jan." That seemed to confuse her, but she didn't mention it again.

What is the policy for last min cancellations (say less than 30 days)?? What happens to that time/points from that date on... are they only good for 90 or 60 day or less reservations??

Thx!
