If anyone is going soon to Newport Coast Villas, I just got a reduced rental for May 5 via Thrifty from $466 to $280, standard car for 9 days. I'm still in shock. When I first started searching back in December, the rates were about $600.

Just got back from NCV and paid $900 for a two week rental.

That's why I'm still in shock. I just checked the rates again, and they remain at this low rate. The rates weren't this low when we were there in October. I really don't prefer Thrifty since Alamo has been my company of choice, but not at their high rates. The rentals with them start at $600.

You looked through Thrifty or did you use a different rental site?

I normally only rent via the actual rental company. I need my Skymiles to offset the cost of all my flights, especially since airfare has gone sky high. Sometimes when you use other websites like Priceline, Orbitz, Expedia etc., the miles are not counted. I just checked Thrifty and the rates have gone back up, but not as high as a month ago. At least they were lower for 4 days this week. It could happen again.

You helped me in the past with a great rental car rate. I always appreciate tips on booking car rentals.

Do you have access to RCI because car rentals are great for some airports through RCI.

I cannot believe that you remember me after all these years! You’ve also helped me many times as well. I canceled my RCI account several years ago. I had actually gotten rid of all my RCI units, but I kept the account open for many years just for the specials. I still manage my sister’s RCI account and will check the rental rates. Thanks again.
