Resorts Owned
WIVC
Hi all, just joined the forum! We own a World International Vacation Club (WIVC) membership that we don't use anymore. The maintenance fees are $525 for our 1BR, 1week a year membership. They are a rather small company with 9 resorts, most in Mexico. Their website, https://wivc.com/ shows the resorts available. Is this membership worth much to try and sell, or would we just need to basically give it away? Dues are paid for 2022 and there is a week available to use now. I've read through the general advice on TUG, but wanted to ask about our specific club. Thanks in advance for any advice and help.

Welcome to TUG.

WIVC seems to be a well managed member run TS system . I have gone to the website in the past and read the spring / fall newsletters.

I think the positive dollar resale market may be limited since this is a smaller club, and is somewhat similar to my TaraNova ownership.
I can find 31 listings onTRIWest Real Estate under complete list of timeshare listings . I am unsure if there are actual sales or just listings.

My first step would be to contact them and see if they have a 'buyback' program. When I was purchasing a timeshare from an Ebay listing, they mistakenly listed it as a different vacation club - in reality they sold me a WIVC unit, which I didn't have any use for. WIVC was very accommodating and cancelled the transaction without any fuss. Good luck!

I met a few WIVC owners in January. They were happy with their memberships. From talking with them, I got the impression WIVC will take the membership back. I called WIVC to see what they'd sell memberships for. I had to give them the name of one of the owners I had met. Anyway, WIVC is selling high season memberships for $1000 plus the mtnce fee. They had a limited number of holiday memberships for not a lot more money. I was impressed with how nice the rep I talked to was. We did look at WIVC Conchas Chinas and WIVC Alta Vista. Both resorts were in excellent shape, however I'm not, so all of the stairs at each resort would be difficult. BTW, $525 mtnc for a 1-bedroom timeshare in Puerto Vallarta is a steal.

Welcome to Tug!

We went to the WVIC up in Conchas Chinas in 2018 using a II Getaway and loved it. We had a 2 bedroom unit. The views were amazing and there was a group of owners who came the same week each year. They invited us to join a potluck at the pool/patio area. That was fun.

They also have one on the beach between the Sheraton and the Malecon. That would be a great location.

You could sell it on the Tug Marketplace - would have to pay the $15 membership fee. You would need to find out the cost of transfer fees. With most timeshares, if you can get the cost of transfer fees and this years MF, you can just get out of the commitment. Sadly, that is the case with most resales.

Another option would be to pay the $15 fee rent it on Tug for $700-$800 per week and make enough to pay the MF and Tug fee and have some extra $. Just don’t be greedy. Many of us look for an extra week at a small resort and would rent for $100-$120 per night.
