Checked in to the MVC portion of the resort yesterday and here is a brief report (will post a fuller one in the review section). Check in was easy and the Royal Sonesta and MVC seem to be working very well together. MVC check in desk is easy to find, large and well staffed (despite reports of it being hidden in a basement somewhere) - just beyond the main Royal Sonesta check in desk in a space that used to be a clothing store. Lots of signs to guide the way.
The bell desk was efficient and happy to help, and will valet park the car for free while you check in until 10 pm; after that $30/day unless you move it to self park.
Everything here seems to be open; restaurants, pools, yoga and aqua aerobics etc. Dukes is very up and running and has music every day. There is still construction going on for the RS, some of it right across the hall from us in the Kahili building but they are just painting and it is quiet.
Setting up a charge account with RS is easy (needed for room charges for room service, the market shop etc). Took a few minutes at the RS desk. Credit cards work fine too.
The 1 bedroom room has a lot of advantages; 2 of everything. Two bathrooms, TV's, temperature controls, microwaves and frigs (small one in the BR and 3/4 size in the main room), coffee makers. Kitchen however is limited - microwave, but no cooktop or oven, and nothing more complicated than basic dishes, a blender and a coffee maker. But surprisingly easy to make that work unless one wants complicated dinners or is trying to feed a family.
Happy to answer questions.
