We love good food. In April we went to 1938 Indochine and ?Sansei seafood. Previous trip we did Opal Thai downtown And we are always up for Roy's or a visit to 3660 on the Rise.

Where to go on this trip? I'm sure reservations hard to get so we will need to be flexible.

Thank you!

When are you coming?

Week of Thanksgiving. Have Sansei already, maybe couple more?

For steaks, Signature has great food and views. We like Hy's, more of an old style Steakhouse. Both are not cheap.

Kalo on Kuhio has traditional Hawaiian food and some with a twist. It is a Chef Chai restaurant so it isn't cheap bit not too bad either. We have been there a few times and everything has been great.

Less formal places, we like Paia Fish Market on Kuhio. Jolene's market has great Lobster Rolls. It is on the edge of Chinatown.

I'm sure others will chime in also.

We enjoy Orchids, sitting right down by the water. Note, however, when we were there a few weeks back (when they had just reopened) it was a limited fixed price menu, far more limited in options than previously. We won't go back there until they have their menu back.

For something different, Gaslamp is an experience. Expensive. But food was great and atmosphere wildly unique.

For not fancy, just good traditional Hawaiian food, we go to Highway Inn on Ala Moana Blvd.

Ps we don't really drink so the cocktail oriented places don't entice us.

I say goto Helenas on school street instead of Kalo. Not even close to being as fancy but visit the original restaurant instead.

Yes, Helenas is excellent and very local and casual. Kalo would be more like the places in the article posted. Since it was I. The article. :D

Here's some info on Helenas. It is a Hawaiian Classic.

We always order Helena's or Young's for Hawaiian especially since Ono closed.

What about sushi? Cousin suggested Ondera or Katsumidori.

Katsumidori

Katsumidori and Onodera both full all week, plan B now!

Mitch’s sushi was the freshest and best we have ever had - near the airport.

Sansei is good, mostly sushi and sashimi dishes.

Helena’s was closed all week so we ordered from Da Ono, which opened where the original Ono stood on Kapahulu until it closed in 2017. It was good, didn’t seem the same as the original but a nice option.
