Completely new owner here. We were told we have to attend this "orientation" session before we can use our club points.
We finally booked it for next week. What should we expect? We will be bringing our 1 year old son.
Any tips/advice/traps to watch out for? We just want to get the "1-hour" session over with as quickly as possible. (Is it even going to be 1 hour, or are they going to keep us there until it's time for everyone to go home?)
Thanks in advance!

Wow, you should be able to use your points at any time prior to anything they say! But try to get them to really teach you all your booking options you have.

The club guide is really good and has most of the info. Ask how to maximize points, make sure you understand the points chart and use it in your favor, booking time frame, RCI bookings, there is a lot that they can go over.

Good luck!

Thanks so much for your response! Do you think this is an actual orientation session, or is it another sales session?

Did you purchase resale or developer? If resale, it must be a sales pitch. If this is the case, make sure to also get good tickets discount or cash/gift card in writing when they give you the "parking pass".

If you purchased developer, it would be reasonable to think it is for giving you the club information.

Please pardon my ignorance, but how do I tell if I got it from resale or developer? We purchased it on one of those "3- night promotion" package things.

The minute they started in what you need to buy, I'd say "Let's stop right here. I'm here for an orientation, and if that isn't what this is, I'll bid you good day."

But that's just me, I have no patience for sales weasels for any reward they would offer.

That's developer.

BTW I would guess that you're able to use your points with no problems, and they are just scaring you into attending a sales pitch. Please let us know how it turns out!

Resale would be from a previous owner, or secondary market like redweek, eBay, etc. Sounds that you made a developer purchase, so it should be what they are saying. In any case, gather your club question and bring them to them for that meeting.

Have you gone to these "ownership update" sessions? What happened during these sessions-were they sales pitches or actual "education" sessions?

The whole process that they made us pay $199 deposit and they'll return it afterwards makes me think that it's going to be a sales pitch session because that's how we got into this thing in the first place.

I try to avoid these at all cost. I purchased resale so I did not get orientation... I did that prior to my first purchase... "Owners updates" are sales pitches, but since you mentioned "orientation", I would think is fair that is for your benefit and to learn the system. But please let us know how it turns out!

They would call it a Christian Revival if that gets you into their sales pitch.

Ha ha! True and sad. That would be messed up, to try to sell to someone that just purchased, but I can definitely see it. Specially after getting the deposit. I hope that is not the case!
