Hi

Have a couple of reservations the rest of this calendar year that we are not going to use. Came across ExtraHolidays.com to rent them out. Trying to sign-up they are asking our SSN and alll. Is Extra Holidays a legitimate entity to rent out unwanted/surplus vacations? In my case, cancelling and getting the points back will only mean they will expire Dec 31st. One way or other I am going to lose the points or not use vacation weeks. Wondering if Extra Holidays is OK or if there is any other better alternates.

A few in S and VA, a single resort in NC, MD, PA, and UT, plus Jamaica and the Bahamas
They are legitimate but they may end up renting only one or two days of a longer reservation and then take their cut and could leave you with almost nothing.

In the email that announced the implementation of benefits summary portion of the website to hybrid VIP owners, Wyndham indicated that resale points could be moved to future use years through 12/31/2021. It would be worth calling and asking if you can move the points instead of having them expire and completely avoid the attempting to rent them through Extra Holidays.

Good for them, but not usually for you.

By the way Extra Holidays is actually Wyndham.

Apparently you can move resale points this year, but have to call, as online the only way is to deposit in the first 3 months of the use year.

We were told that these points cannot be moved to future use years. We are silver and told this needs to be done 6 months before the expiration date (of Dec 31st).

The other option is to cancel and deposit them to RCI sometime in December. You will then have through the end of 2023 to use them. That's potentially a good avenue particularly for high-value exchanges, and especially for smaller units, even though the exchange costs an extra $250 or so. For example, any 2BR in Hawaii is at most 205K (vs. the 300-400K that Hawaii often requires internally). A DVC 1BR is at most 105K for all but a week or two each year. In-city studios are at most 90K, even in NYC and SF.

I'll be doing this this year, too, because we are cancelling a stay in the 4th quarter of our UY.

Were they resale points or developer points?

We had a very bad RCI experience in our mouths. When we originally because owners we got 200K bonus poins. As beginners we didn't plan well for our vacations and bought into sales people words and moved about 500K points into RCI. The next two years everytime we wanted to use RCI, it never worked out. Either there is nothing available or we have to checkout a day or two ahead (and may stay in some hotel elsewhere). We just used one-week as a gift to a friend and let the rest of the points expire. You won't believe how many different ways we tried to give away these vacation weeks, even if it is $169 per week on our wallet and *nothing* worked out. Of course, this is around 2015 or so... After that never even glanced at RCI ever again..

RCI is not the easiest to use/book. I learned from TUG that the best way to find anything is through an ongoing search.
It hurts to pay the exchange fee, but better than just losing the points.
