Is there a way to tell on your Wyndham account if Wyndham has your points coded as developer or resale? We have a resale contract we bought on eBay as well as a developer contract my parents gave us. We filled out the affidavit to show that it was a family transfer so that it will retain the retail benefits, but I have no idea how to tell if that's been processed by Wyndham.

Start to make a 13 mth reservation for the transferred resort(s) and see if get error message (non developer points) . Do not complete the reservation

Why would that work? According to the members’ guide there doesn’t seem to be a difference between retail and resale point treatment for reservation times.

I’ll have to check when my internet service is fixed at home, but I don’t think there’s any indication that would differentiate the contracts. Your only clues are likely whether (1) you’re account status reflects whatever VIP level is due to the retail contract, or (2) whether you’re being charged the program fee without Plus ($0.62 per thousand) or with Plus Partners ($0.64). The second one would show a difference whether or not you’re VIP.

How many points in your parents contract? Enough to qualify for any VIP level? You'd be able to tell if you were receiving discounts or upgrades accordingly.

You may also be able to tell by trying to make a Worldmark reservation. Resale points cannot be used for that. Cost is not incurred until you actually make the reservation and it needs to be made over the phone. Maybe call and ask how many points you have available to make such a reservation?

Your parents contract will show up under “My Ownership” section of the website under your website login. If it’s not there, it has not finished. You could also try calling the main number and choose option 2, then option 3 to talk to title. They would be able to tell you if the transfer is finished. If your parents had VIP, then you should have VIP once the transfer is completed. You’ll see that in the big blue box on the main screen after you login.

I thought that Plus Partners (PP) is simply an account attribute, such that the program fee applies to all contracts in the account if only the developer contract has PP status.

It is an account attribute that applies to all, but would indicate that there is a developer contract in the account. That is what I was getting at - if the contract OP was interested in wasn't showing as being a developer contract, the account wouldn't have PP.

On My Ownership, I see the following at the top:

MY OWNERSHIP

MEMBER NUMBER
xxxxxxxxxxxx

MEMBERSHIP TYPE
CLUB WYNDHAM® Access

STATUS
Gold Owner

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS
RCI
Outrigger Resort Club® by Wyndham
Perks by CLUB WYNDHAM®
PIC Plus
PlusPartners®

The items that tell me I have at least one developer contract in the account are the Gold Status, the existence of a PIC Plus, and the PlusPartners®. There isn't much that distinguishes which contracts are developer and which aren't in the individual listings or how the points behave.

Once you have some Developer points, you could buy as much resale as you want points. No difference in reservations other then VIP Levels. We have both and no issues with reservations. We purchased the resale points first than waited for a "deal" for developer points.

That is no longer true

Login to your online account - from your My Dashboard - choose My Ownership from the navigation pane. In that area - you'll see a My Contracts area. Each contract in your account will be listed in this area - and each contract will display the Purchase Type. See screenshot below for ease of reference:

I guess due to new rules, since I own 125K resale points only, I am unable to book during labor day weekend at some resorts, because they are resale point, is this correct?

There is no rule prohibiting you from booking a reservation for Labor Day weekend. At certain resorts during certain time periods there are some new restrictions regarding sending guests on a reservation you have made.

Except at some resorts 125k points just won’t get you a reservation for that time period. So no rule prohibiting resale usage during any time period for owner usage, but the low # of points may prevent you.

Thanks! My resale contract says Resale, but the one my parents gave me says nothing. There is no purchase type listed at all.

What @HitchHiker71 posted about is part of the August 2021 update to the Wyndham site; there was also the addition of the Benefits Summary page that you can access through the navigation pane directly above My Ownership. If it is working properly for you, you should be able to select the actual current use year (right now it is defaulting to the earliest use year in the account due to poor implementation by the Wyndham IT group) and see how many points there are as resale and how many points there are as developer in the account. It doesn't break out the source of the points terribly well, but also has options that show the benefits by home resort and developer or resale. Depending on what in particular the contracts are for, you should be able to see how it's coded.

I believe your membership number tells you. Mine starts 00999, and I was told that is how they immediately know I am resale. (I do not have any developer points).

I would contact Owner Resolution (previously Owner Care) and ask them why the status of that particular contract is not displaying. It may just be that your Tribute transfer is still in progress and hasn't completed yet.

This is not correct, (firsthand knowledge)

My membership starts with 00999 and I have a Hybrid account. My first contract was resale, have gone on up to VIPP since that first purchase.

My VIPP membership begins with 000. It's been that for 30 years. It stayed 000 even after purchasing resale. No changes.

Between you and Cyrus, the answer is revealed. Wyndham uses 00999 when creating a new account that stems from a resale trade, and a different numbering convention when creating a new account that stems from a developer sale. Any new contracts added to an account will not change the account number, so you will have 999 with developer sold contracts and even VIP levels, and 000 with resale contracts. To get hypothetical, it isn't impossible to have a 00999 account that is all developer after an owner has divested the resale contract that started the account, or for a developer numbered account to be all resale if for some odd reason an owner has decided to give away the contract he paid $20K for and keep the one he paid $1 for (I said hypothetical, after all!).

I have 1 resale, my first ever Wyndham contract, and a 00999xxx member number as a VIPP, as you have noted. I plan on doing something with this lone resale contract as some point, but it could be a while. I suspect my member number will never change.
