Last October, we took a look at the flat lot where WKORV-N would be built. It had the forms for the pools but otherwise it was pretty flat. Today, all the buildings are up and one of them is done on the outside and they must be working on the inside now. The pirate pool boat is in place and the landscaping is also in. The blown-in green groundcover/instant grass is the same color as the WKORV pool was :D .

Word on the street is that WKORV-N sales are going well and that it may be sold out before it opens in July 2007. I took some photos from the 4th floor WKORV model, but I have to figure out how to make the files smaller.

WKORV is picture-perfect today with amazing weather, a clear pool and lots of families. I see a lot of sales executives touring with their prospects.

I met a family who rented their week from Starwood. They met someone who rented an OF 1 bedroom from craigslist at the last minute. Another family I met rented from an owner through a travel agent a month ago. I've only met one owner so far (a fellow TUGer). This place is supposed to be 80% owner occupied at the moment (so says a concierge), but I haven't met many yet.

If you have any questions, I'll see if I can get some answers before we leave on Saturday.

Hi Denise,
Have you seen any buildings layout showing the room numbering scheme in WKORV-N? I'm curious about which rooms face which direction; towards Lanaii or towards Molokai?
Thanks.

Hi, I have not seen any layouts with room numbers yet. I can ask if there is anything like that available.

Hey Denise...glad to hear the pool is clear! We're going during spring break.

Yes, the pool is beautiful again and warmed up nicely :) . The new heaters are working great and it is very comfortable to swim in the pool now.

Denise's photos got me thinking....

Does anyone know where I can find a finished concept drawing of what WKORVN is supposed to look like when it is finished.

I'm primarily interested in the layouts of the buildings? I know I remember seeing it somewhere.

Thanks,

Jerry

The artist concept was in the WKORV-N binder that they gave to prospective owners, but unit location is not part of it.

During my 'interesting' owners update - the TS saleperson did show us the design and the room locations on a resort map, but I got the feeling that if I started to write anything down (for example) he would not have let me - he seemed tempered in showing us too much (typical SVO/SVN). Maybe deniselew will do the update (4500 SPs), and get the info for WKORV-N owners - the unit location and associated 'view' seemd sort of convoluted. One thing is for sure - specfic unit location requests (because of all the angles) are going to be more important than at WKORV.

:whoopie: I'm glad the photobucket links worked .

We won't be attending the owner's update, although I'd like to. No sitters and my DH isn't really interested in going. I tell you though, with the fabulous weather and great beach and clear, warm pool, and the margarita in my hand and the fresh cookies in the oven, I'd really buy another week if I had money growing on trees. I love it here!

Since DH is looking for a new job, I'm going to have to put a plug in for more money (hahahahaha). Seriously, though, this is the nicest place on Maui we have ever stayed.

I finally met two REAL owners today in the hot tub. Yesterday I met another renter who paid $3300 for a week in a 2 bedroom...didn't specify which view (I didn't want to sound too nosy  ).

They should serve margaritas to prospects when they are touring...

I was walking to the Bar & Grill to pick up my Mahi Mahi Burger & fries and was thinking it would be so easy to buy from the developer today. Do you suppose they sell more when the weather is perfect and the holiday season is in full swing? You know, "Dear Santa, please buy me a week at WKORV (resale) or WKORV-N (developer)." :D

There isn't a layout with room numbering available at this time. I've been promised a copy if and when something is official, but it may be that we have to walk through the buildings (like at WKORV) to figure out the room numbers.

Apparently your question is a very popular one!

Denise --

Thanks!

My two young pirates can't wait to "walk the plank" when we get our first usage in 2008.

Enjoy the rest of your stay and have a safe trip home!

WKORV versus WKORV-N views & pool crowds

So will WKORV-N have better OVs than this :D ?

Also wondering how the pool crowds will be affected by the HUGE resort next door...it's comfortably crowded today, barely any lounge chairs to be had. What will happen when N opens? Any theories?

We leave our pool stuff by the BBQs where no one sits during the day. That way we don't occupy a lounge chair if we are going to the beach.

Denise, I am so glad for you that the weather is still nice. We had the same beautiful weather right before you came. We drove by the Westin several times and could not believe how many new buildings there are. It will help us all getting exchanges or rentals in Maui a lot easier, I hope.

We also talked to a Hyatt guy and they are hoping that they will get their permits passed soon too so they will build their 12 story tower too next to the Marriott Lahaina tower. It was held up because of the traffic problems they are having right now. The roads are not adequate for so much construction. There will be a by-pass sooner or later but it seems to take a lot of time.

I will post some construction photos of the Marriott new tower but that is only one building so far but the second one will not be far behind. It is selling well too and there were lots of people touring.

It was nice talking to you on the phone but I found your message too late to meet you because we were on our way to the airport already.

Another question to ponder. If you own at WKORV and make your booking at less than 8 months out, would you be better off booking at N since the views are generally better there? You wouldn't get a view of the highway or side of a building...

Great photos.

Good question - it seems as if WKORV-N is set back a bit further from the ocean and a tad closer to the highway, but I didn't spend a lot of time looking at it (I wrote about this). You are right - there are a lot of poor units (location-wise) at WKORV that may be buffered somewhat at WKORV-N because of the angled design.

One thing I did notice from your photos of WKORV-N is that they should have put more windows on the sides of the units that have open wall space - there are a lot of these at WKORV-N because of the angled configuration - and there are only two small windows with a large wall space where it looks as if they could have put large windows in like those in the WKORV corner units.

We really like the light the Deluxe (corner) units have at WKORV, and this is a big plus for us - sitting in the unit facing the south had a spectular semi-panaromic view. The first thing I would do in the morning was open all the black-out drapes. Why didn't they use this wall space at WKORV-N?

Denise,

Thanks for the pictures. For the OV shots, were you in the front most OV unit, and did you request that room, have to push for it, etc? Seems like one of the nicest rooms.

Also, why are you concerned about WKORV-N and the pool crowds? Are you suggesting that WKORV-N won't have a pool, or at least not right away?

I did request a room similar to the one we received. We've always been in that building and are happy there.

N won't have a slide for the kids, so it will be interesting to see how the pool fills up. Maybe it's a non-issue, but I'll report back next year. N pools will be open when the resort opens in late July 2007.

So, does anyone have recommendations on unit location requests for North? I'm happy to say I reserved a 1-bed premium unit for the first week of Sept (Labor Day!) and thought I'd try North this year. I'm expecting a parking lot view with my 8-mth SVN rez, but thought I'd request "high floor, pool view"... any other suggestions?

FWIW, I made this reservation via the website. Now I just need to find some flights...

Good news, there are no parking lots view at North :) ! My understanding is that the worst views will be interior views, so courtyard, maybe views of WKORV but with a pool or trees, landscaping, etc.

Did you just email them your request for the week and you got it? How long did it take?
