Can anyone give an up-to-date review of the Pono Kai Resort in Kauai?
Can anyone give an up-to-date review of the Pono Kai Resort in Kauai?
I already have a rental, I exchanged our TS for it, but thank you. I will keep you in mind because I have a feeling I will be going back. I've read mixed reviews, but they weren't recent. I was hoping for a more up to date review.I own 20 weeks at the Pono Kai. The last time I was there in February of 2020. Are you looking to exchange in or a rental or. It a week?

Thanks for responding. I don't see one on either of our reservations. One was an exchange and one was booked directly with Pono Kai. I will call them and let you know,All of the Pono Kai owners Association weeks have been renovated over the last few years. The video below is how those turned out.
Not all of the Pacific Fantasy, VRI or Bluegreen units have been renovated yet. So they are definitely older looking.
The whole owned units run the gamut of really nice to needing a lot of work.
Sometimes on some exchanges you do get a unit number with your confirmation. Did it say anything on yours?

Called and they said that they don't give out unit numbers in case things change last minute but did say I should be happy with the units assigned. Thanks for responding. I was looking at some resale units. One of the units available is A206. Does anyone know if this unit has been refurbished? Buying is just a thought right now. We are going to Pono Kai in August, one exchange one rental, and would check it out first. All of the Pono Kai owners Association weeks have been renovated over the last few years. Doesn't say check-in day of week. I can ask. It does say that seller will pay for all closing costs. I'd be responsible for the transfer fee of $150. The header on top of the estoppel is: Pohaku Resort Management.Does the listing say if it is Pacific Fantasy or it has a Friday checkin? I don’t have my sheet with me but I believe it is a renovated unit. I sent you a pm.

I think I posted this before. We exchanged our Pueblo Bonito Sunset for Pono Kai for August. We also rented another unit. What I posted was that I am thinking about buying but wouldn't decide until after our stay. It's just a thought at this point.I thought you had an exchange and a rental, and now you are buying a unit?
This is an exact quote to what I previously posted, "I was looking at some resale units. One of the units available is A206. Does anyone know if this unit has been refurbished? I emailed the seller and this is what I was told. Check in is for Wednesdays and Saturdays. He also said that, "Both week 38 and unit A206 are the deeded week and unit, but the estoppel shows that this floats any week. That will be based on availability. " This confused me. I thought that deeding a specific week meant that it was a fixed week, not a floating week. Maybe it is a fixed week but it can be changed to a different week for extra fees? The ad and estoppel also says that it's white season, however, the selling agency said that was a mistake. I probably won't even consider buying because there's too many questions without solid answers.Ok, it is a Pono Kai owners association unit but verify the checkin day. He should be able to look at his confirmation for the 2022 week he has booked.
Thank you for clarifying. I appreciate it.That is a Pono Kai Owners Association week. With those weeks the week and the unit number are used for inventory purposes only. It is a 1-52 float week and float unit that is based on availability. This is typical of all weeks there. There are very few weeks there that were sold as Christmas weeks that are fixed. Otherwise all the other weeks are like this one.
