These were very frail, end of life patients. Just like with the virus itself, a mild fall, colds, and flu, when you're tetering on the edge of the cliff, it doesn't take much to send you over to your demise.

Still not good. A preventative measure should not send you over the edge.

Okay, 23 out of how many that have been vaccinated? Can't we use the same argument that those who think Covid is no big thing do. A certain percentage of deaths is "no big thing".

I'm scheduled to get my first shot on the 22nd and I will be getting it.

Over 30,000.

In a perfect, idealistic world yes, but that is not real life.

Best not to wait until you get your Vaccine until you are on death's bed

Hmmm. I don't see many other mainstream news with this story.

What do you mean by mainstream? The Times of India is the 9th in the world by circulation (all languages) and it has the largest circulation of any English-language newspaper in the world

You are actually right, this news is actually hard to find, most media and the search engines seem to avoid it.

The article does not mention how many older people have been vaccinated in Norway to have a better picture of the actual risk in that group. I personally do not think it is a reason for most people not to be vaccinated, at least with what we know so far, but it raises serious concerns if companies or governments make the vaccine mandatory for access to travel or certain services.

With a survival rate of 98% or so, very unlikely. Plus the vaccine does not prevent you getting COVID, only milder symptoms. It will take years to have the most meaningful data.

To be fair, that‘s a mix of semantics and a distinction without a difference. We all have many vaccines. Polio. MMR. Etc. So what happens when we encounter the polio virus? If we don’t get sick, the vaccine has done its job.

No vaccine can prevent you from “catching“ the virus. It instead preps your immune system so that it is ready to destroy the virus if/when you catch it. The semantics is in what it means to “catch” something. What exactly does that mean?

We have run-ins with viruses constantly. We don’t “catch” it because our immune system prevents us from getting sick. Same with COVID.

First, they say only 13 “appear” related to side effects. If you are 86 yo, have congestive heart failure, kidney failure, and a UTI, and you die 3 days after being vaccinated, I’d say the vaccination is just coincidence until proven otherwise.

I get very suspicious of “data” that does not appear to correspond with anything else. Why in Norway, but nowhere else?

Something doesn’t make sense. The US has vaccinated > 12,000,000 people. No deaths reported from the vaccine. Almost 400,000 from COVID.

who said no reported deaths in the US?

I have not seen a single report, either in the media or the medical literature, of a death attributed to a COVID vaccine. That’s not to say it hasn’t happened, but (a) I’ve not seen it and (b) if 13/30000 were caused by the vaccine in Norway, how many would you expect out of 12,000,000?

Oh, and each of the Pfizer and Moderna Phase III studies included ~15,000 or more receiving the vaccine, and no deaths.

I understand you are against, well, everything it seems. But vaccines save lives. The COVID vaccine will save hundreds of thousands of lives. Trying to put fear into people is irresponsible. Show us your PhD and MD in infectious disease or virology and maybe you’ll get an ear. But I’m not sure being on TUG makes you qualified to question the safety of vaccines.

I guess if they had Covid it would be easier to determine the cause of death: Covid. For anything else it is their conditions.
Also, remember, most of the 12 million vaccines have been just in the last two weeks so it may be early to tell. Additionally, many have been given to much younger front line workers.

Will take my chances of severe problems with the vaccine. If you don’t want to get vaccinated, that is your privilege. But based on the probability of having a life threatening reaction to the vaccine or a life threatening reaction to an infection from COVID, I choose the vaccine.

Please speak for yourself. I have been consistent, for the vaccine. I am not sure I can say the same about everybody.

There's nothing here folks. Almost 40 million people have received the vaccine and we have a few reports of elderly and fragile nursing home patients passing away. How many of them would have survived Covid? Please don't let reports like this dissuade you from getting vaccinated.
