I actually understand wearing masks and social distancing after getting the vaccine because there is not way of telling on the street, mall etc who got the vaccine already and who did not so it would be hard to Inforce the rules when appropriate. But once the number of deaths goes down significantly, please lift the restrictions!.@DannyTS
Dr. F says masks must continue AFTER that vaccine b/c they are only 90% effective!
"In fact, Fauci recommends people still wear masks and practice social distancing even after getting the vaccine, he told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union” on Sunday."

Dr. Fauci says masks, social distancing will still be needed after a Covid-19 vaccine—here's why
"It's not going to be a light switch" back to normalcy when a coronavirus vaccine becomes available to the public, says Dr. Anthony Fauci.www.cnbc.com
Or ...lift the restrictions when everyone who wants the vaccine gets one.I actually understand wearing masks and social distancing after getting the vaccine because there is not way of telling on the street, mall etc who got the vaccine already and who did not so it would be hard to Inforce the rules when appropriate. In Canada there are voices in the media that are telling us we should continue wearing masks when the pandemic is over. You see, next time to prevent the flu!

The author tries to normalize wearing masks for all kind of reasons including flu. It is more normal to stay home if you have flu, not to go out and hope the mask is going to protect others. It is ridiculous to give as example some Asian countries where pollution is through the roof! I have been to some and I now think I should have worn a mask on the street! By the way, before this pandemic there were plenty of studies that showed that the masks did not work for the flu.
The world was doing well before this and those who wanted and needed it could get a flu vaccine. If we do not die from flu we shall die from something else. The obsession with germs is not healthy since the body needs to be constantly trained to fight all kind of things. There are numerous studies that restricting exposure to children leads to all kind of problems later, one of which is allergic conditions. Here in Vancouver with our large asian population there has definitely been a stigmatism in the past attached to wearing a mask. In the past at my workplace it was some sort of badge of honour to come in even if employees were sick, and I'm sure that has changed going forward. I do however think after the pandemic is over if I were feeling slightly under the weather and needed to go to the store, I'd wear a mask. This simple act would be normalizing mask use but I wouldn't object to it. I won't however be wearing one on the regular for no reason.
Covid didn't kill off the flu. Changes in our behavior reduced the cases significantly, but after we get a handle on Covid-19 it will be back. Influenza is resilient. It's found ways to mutate and efficiently transform itself since the 1918 pandemic and has been killing people ever since.

They are quoting an epidemiologist. Unless you think that is not true, your comments do not have a leg to stand on.

The missing flu riddle: 'Influenza has been renamed COVID,' maverick epidemiologist says
As influenza levels continue cratering, some cite COVID measures — even as COVID rates have multiplied nearly sevenfold since the spring in spite of enhanced mitigation policies.justthenews.com

Failed Fact Checks
- Virginia’s new method for testing for coronavirus may significantly delay the state’s reopening – Partly False
- COVID-19 is close to losing its epidemic status in the U.S., according to the CDC – False
- Yale epidemiologist: Dr. Fauci running ‘misinformation campaign’ against hydroxychloroquine – False
- “Dr. Anthony Fauci appeared to acknowledge that large numbers of positive COVID-19 cases may arise from oversensitive tests that pick up mere fragments of the virus rather than active, viable infections. If true, many patients may have been receiving false-positive test results” – Inaccurate
A small truth like when the media you keep on quoting were telling us that Covid had a mortality rate of 6% when it is closer to 0.4%? Give me a break, I have seen a lot of lies, lies by omission, gross exaggerations and biases at all media. The fact is, the epidemiologist stated that he believes that cases of flu are counted as Covid. You are attacking those that published the statement, you should attacks those that did NOT publish it.Continue on with the Wiki citation:

But that is how propaganda works, take a small truth and weave a BIG story around it.
You proved nothing except that you were trying to attack the media rather than what the actual news. Wittkowski is the former Head of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Research Design at Rockefeller University. He believes that many cases of flu are labeled Covid. If you do not like it you can write him a letter. And now you have proven MY point that SOME COVID-19 discussions are proxies of political discussion which is really not allowed on this forum.
Q.E.D.
Good info. "An epidemiologist" is quoted in a news article absent of any type of study or factual information and we're supposed to run with that? You have to be kidding us. Right? Let's just agree that the prevalence of seasonal flu is lower than usual. There's no conspiracy to lower the numbers. It's just lower than usual. Agree with them or not, most experts contribute the reduction of influenza cases to the implementation of Covid-19 mitigation measures. Posting an article about a single epidemiologist is just "cherry picking".View attachment 30791

Wittkowski, former Head of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Research Design at Rockefeller University, cautioned that, “Influenza has been renamed COVID-19 in large part.”
According to CDC figures, the cumulative positive influenza test rate from late September into the week of December 19th was just 0.2%, compared to 8.7% from a year before.
According to Wittkowski, this is because many flu infections are being incorrectly labeled as coronavirus cases.
“There may be quite a number of influenza cases included in the ‘presumed COVID-19’ category of people who have COVID-19 symptoms (which Influenza symptoms can be mistaken for), but are not tested for SARS RNA,” Wittkowski told Just the News.
