I actually understand wearing masks and social distancing after getting the vaccine because there is not way of telling on the street, mall etc who got the vaccine already and who did not so it would be hard to Inforce the rules when appropriate. But once the number of deaths goes down significantly, please lift the restrictions!.

I don't agree with a lot of what the author has to say in this article (it is an opinion piece), but why not wear a mask if you have to go out and you're feeling under the weather? The author tries to normalize wearing masks for all kind of reasons including flu. It is more normal to stay home if you have flu, not to go out and hope the mask is going to protect others. It is ridiculous to give as example some Asian countries where pollution is through the roof! I have been to some and I now think I should have worn a mask on the street! By the way, before this pandemic there were plenty of studies that showed that the masks did not work for the flu.

I hope we all realize though, there is a current that has little to do with public health and a lot to do with imposing on others to gain leverage in other areas.

The world was doing well before this and those who wanted and needed it could get a flu vaccine. If we do not die from flu we shall die from something else. The obsession with germs is not healthy since the body needs to be constantly trained to fight all kind of things. A small truth like when the media you keep on quoting were telling us that Covid had a mortality rate of 6% when it is closer to 0.4%? Give me a break, I have seen a lot of lies, lies by omission, gross exaggerations and biases at all media. The fact is, the epidemiologist stated that he believes that cases of flu are counted as Covid. You are attacking those that published the statement, you should attacks those that did NOT publish it.

Good info. "An epidemiologist" is quoted in a news article absent of any type of study or factual information and we're supposed to run with that? You have to be kidding us. Right? Let's just agree that the prevalence of seasonal flu is lower than usual. There's no conspiracy to lower the numbers. It's just lower than usual. Agree with them or not, most experts contribute the reduction of influenza cases to the implementation of Covid-19 mitigation measures. Posting an article about a single epidemiologist is just "cherry picking".
