Marriott IT, The Gift That Keeps On Giving

Was it a week that you originally exchanged into and cancelled or retraded?
 
I did this two days ago without issue.
 
Yup, just tried to book a points stay now and there is no option to select to use a free night cert instead of the points.
 
I have this issue forever with 5-night hotel certs that are part of a travel package. Each call is 2 to 3 hours long, problem usually only resolved after 3 calls after several days because the agents were not trained on how to attach or that they have not access to their IMS system where only partial travel (hotel) certs can be attached to reservations. I have given up and I have 4 more 5-night partial hotel certs that I am not going to redeem. I will just let them lapse and I will just not ever redeem points for travel packages again.

I’ve gotten someone else’s folio after checking out too, not a timeshare stay. Had all their info (I forget what Marriott hotel; it was years ago but definitely was weird).
 
Article was dated today.

From the article...its been a consistent problem for a week: "The option to use the certificate has disappeared and a quick google search shows this is a well documented problem for at least the last week."

I have NEVER had a TP cert attach automatically. I've had to call every time--for years.

Yes...I had week reserved through II, then retraded to Royal Palms for a one-day later check-in. Probably about 6-7 days before check-in. Bummer they didn't charge anything to the room, I guess. Maybe I'll get the nights.

Yes. But in the past, the agent could just attach it. NOW, since the merger the agents cannot attach these certificates. They need to get hold of someone in the backend who has access to IMS system and even then, most of the people with access to IMS system do not do them correctly. Then a 2nd call the following day, and a 3rd call.

Ridiculous. I haven't used one since the merger. Last one was Aug 2019 StR Maldives. We had booked about 10 months prior. They are so watered down now, I doubt I'd use them again.

Bless you for taking the time to report your experiences! I was contemplating travel packages for an upcoming Euro vacation- not now! The hassle isn’t worth it! Thanks!

It's been about a year since I've been able to make points based MVC reservations, because their reservation system thinks I haven't paid my MF's, but their finance system shows that everything was paid on time. I have to call in, have them put a reservation on hold for me, then they have to open a ticket with "reservation support" to get around these errors and actually complete my reservation. They have no idea why this is happening. I have only missed out on 1 reservation because they closed at 5pm and I needed to wait for 9am the next day to call, and what I wanted was gone. But, I shouldn't even have this problem. So annoying!!
 
My 7 night certificate has never attached automatically. I have not tried a 1 night, but I have one expiring the end of January so I guess I will try, or it is use it or lose it.
