I've had a number of listings removed (flagged?) in the last few weeks and had no idea why. I checked some of the complaints from people who had had listing removed and notice that Craig's List's computers are likely to remove listings if the person who listed uses a VPN connections. I do most of the time and thought that might explain why my listings were removed quickly and consistently.

So, I shut off the VPN and posted four new listings. Three of them were removed before I finished the fourth. I give up.

I think it's just annoying people eliminating the competition. I gave up too.

You know, Denise, that's what I thought for a long time -- trolls that live in their Moms' basements. This was too fast for that.

I've only used CL to advertise a handful of things and never encountered this problem. But since we are on the topic, what is the purpose of the flagging feature and how does it work? Could somebody please kindly enlighten me? TIA.

If I nderstand the way Craig's List works (and I'm mostly guessing), the CL computer removes listings that meet certain criteria -- prohibited items, etc. One of the things that might trigger a removal is a VPN connection, or so it was suggested. These last posts were removed after I had disconnected VPN but it might be because of listing posts that had been removed.

The competition thing would be done by indivituals flagging the listing but it takes more than one flagging to cause a removal. I don't think that's what happened to mine because it was too quick. The listings were removed almost instantaneously, suggesting a computer did it.

Craig;s List is rather elusive when it comes to things like flagging and removals. There is no recourse You can ask why a listing was removed and you'll get answers but not necessarily from somene who had anything to do with the removals. If you argue, every one of your listings will be removed by the trolls. Ask me how I know!!

That Facebook marketplace is crazy. Trying to rent New Year’s Eve week. People want to take it for the year I get requests in other languages. Many people asking where Wisconsin is.
Probably best to stay on the many Bluegreen Facebook rental groups rather than marketplace. The people there know the product. I have had the same problem with marketplace.

I have only been successful with bluegreen groups. Nothing from Airbnb except a last minute cancellation and nothing from Tug and nothing from Craig’s list Good thing I am not living off the proceeds

Confirming my bias to use everything I own (which is a lot).
Thats the way I play it also. Use all my points for my personal use or Rent from a VIP that will pass along discounts in the 60 day discount window. I also like Worldmark bonus time for less then paying maintenance fees and no HK's or RT's that many are complaining about.

Where is the FB Marketplace? Is there one for general timeshare rentals, or is it specific to each System?
I second this question. I've used Facebook Marketplace for things such as furniture but don't know how to use it for timeshares. How does it work?

Koala looks good to me. 8% commission but eliminates a lot of the problems from what I read.

Cheers

The same way as selling a dresser or a car. You post your timeshare, and hope someone wants to rent it for your price. Lots of flakes there too, though.

Gave up long ago. I have even gave up on redweek.

Thanks, Davidvel. I there anyway to advertise in the place where the timeshare is located, or are you advertising just to people who live near your regular home?

They do something odd. I had to reset to get audience closer to me

I might try this

For the past several months, I have had a dozen or more listings at the same time on Koala, canceling and adding listings as I cancel and book reservations. All in all, probably fifty or sixty listings.

I have had exactly zero queries from potential renters. Koala people are great, just no action. Listing is easy and free so there's nothing lost except time.
