I made a reservaton for the new Costa Rica property. I noticed the reservation shows a fee? Does anyone know what that is for?

Could it be an upgrade fee for going from a 1 bedroom trade to a 2 bedroom unit, for example?

When booking with cash via Marriott.com, it says this.... Please note - A daily resort fee of USD 30 plus 13 percent tax will be added to the room rate and includes an Iguana eco tour, pool floats and more.

Not sure what type of ressie you made, but could it be that fee??

it is points so there is no upgrade fees. Wonder if it is a resort fee. I don't usually see resort fees on Marriott time shares.

It is probably a resort fee. Just weird that they do not tell you that there is a fee. You see it on the confirmation only.

I would agree, that's a bit sleazy.

I seem to recall another TUG member posting (perhaps in an MVC fb group?) that this is a resort fee and a carry over from the co-located hotel.

Thank you all for your input. I hope this does not mean Marriott in general is going to start these fees on all resorts.

Are you talking Marriott Bonvoy Points or MVCI Destination points?

When I look on Marriott Bonvoy site, when you view rates at top it says "Please note-A daily resort fee of USD 30 plus 13 percent tax will be added to the room rate and includes an Iguana eco tour, pool floats and more. "

MVCI points
Did your MVC reservation confirm say there was a fee, or was it just on the Marriott (hotel) confirmation. If only on the Marriott (hotel) confirmation, it may not apply to you and is just there by default. I have seen that regarding parking fees, etc, that really do not apply to DC points/weeks reservations, but are listed on the Marriott (hotel) confirm even when they do not apply.

Just chatted. Took them a little while to get me answer but here is what I got
"You will not be charged the resort fee if you make the booking using the Vacation Club Points. "

Thank you. It does make a difference as one of the reservations is 12 nights. The charge was 469 for that stay alone

I had pretty much assumed this would be the case. I’m interested in going to this resort, but probably not until 2023. I figured I’d just call when I was ready to make a reservation and double check
