The re-developer of Sunrise Bay Resort and Club who saved the timeshare from foreclosure back in 1987, Bruce Sonneborn, is now back. He is in charge of creating the renovation of the resort as well as sales.. Each unit will be redesigned and the exterior upgraded bringing the quality up to 4-5 star standards. His aim is to turn Sunrise Bay into one of the finest waterfront, boutique resorts.

For those who don’t know Bruce he was also the developer of Sunset Cove in Marco Island.

I visited today and as an owner at Sunrise I am thrilled. I saw one of the units that is being renovated and liked it but am more excited that the HOA units are being sold which will bring in more mf’s. We are not getting an assessment and they actual think mfs can go down.

I also own at Eagles Nest and Surf Club on Marco Island, have traded into Marriott Crystal Shores and Sunset Cove and have toured Charter Club and Regency. Whereas Sunrise was the most modest, as I have always stated, it was my favorite. The view from each unit is great and the private covered pier to fish or relax, with the dolphins visiting is unique and put Sunrise on the top of my list.

Nice that they can do all that without an special assessment.
What is your favorite gulf-front resort?

Between Eagle's Nest & Charter Club, we prefer Eagle's Nest.
We will be there in late August, after returning from Europe.

Saw the sign on the dock yesterday as I passed by boat saying “newly renovated “. Are all unit renovations complete yet?

2/5 are completely renovated, another 2/5 have new furniture. They will begin again in the spring of 2021 when it gets slower. The hold up was getting contractors in timely, slowed because of the pandemic.

The pictures look nice! What a change!

My favorite timeshare
I used to own a condo next door at the Riverside club in the F building (the one directly next to the timeshare) lived there for 5 years. Sold it to my parents. They winter there now! It’s a great spot!
