Autumn is my favorite time of the year. The summers down south are brutal to me so when that first hint of fall arrives with cool morning temperature, I absolutely love it. I love days when the temperature stays in the 60’s and the leaves are different shades of red and orange. I love the sea salt caramel mochas at Starbucks (yeah, I’m not a pumpkin spice fan). I love wearing my wool cabby hats.

The article below contains the results of a poll that found the top 20 reasons people love this time of year. How many of your favorites are on the list?

I wish the Fall season lasted longer (mid-Sept through October). My favorite.

November is ok. But it's stick season. I do like Thanksgiving.

I don't like December, though, which essentially is essentially a Fall month- at least the 1st half is. It's dark and I am not crazy about the holidays.

A virtual trip for me of beautiful New England foliage. That's one thing I miss !!! Thanks for sharing. I love the cool crisp air and the clouds in the blue blue skies indicating cooler days ahead. It's my favorite season.
Gorgeous pics! Thanks for sharing.

We are just finishing up a short trip "up north" on the Lake Huron coast. Three nights in a cabin on the Au Sable River, hiking and seeing the fall colors. Not half bad.

Beautiful! I’m going to miss our trip to the Smokies this year. We would normally be going next week, but 2020 is anything but normal.

I'll be driving through the Smokies next week, will give a wave for you. Hadn't occurred to me when I booked the trip that it would be a colorful drive.

Leaves are pretty, dealing with them in my yard is not.

I very much enjoy the smell of burning leaves. Not a chance of that today as we finally have rain, after so much drought.

Please post pics! :)

I agree. I hate them in my yard. I have a mulch and bag riding mower but it’s still a pain in the butt. We aren’t allowed to burn them here. If too many fall between mows, the mower won’t handle them and I still have to rake or blow them up. The yardwork is one of the reasons I want a condo!

Yep, I mow the buggers. I would rather clean toilets than rake leaves. Stuffing them into a garbage bag? No way. We are, in theory, banned from burning, but, in our heavily treed neighborhood, we do. I noticed burning the other day, still droughty, and it was across the street and, as expected, very small attended fire. If it hadn't been so darned windy yesterday, I might have done the same. But, I'm not going to be the one that lets an ember escape to ruin someone's life.

Part of my moving is also to escape yardwork. I've had over an acre of it solo for a while and it's time to stop the madness. I would not be able to handle condo living. I'm more interested in being among less people per mile.

I understand that, too. I’m an introvert but I like the convenience of an urban/suburban area. As long as I have a quiet space like an office or spare room I can go to and re-charge for a couple hours, I’m good.

Although I would like autumn to be a little warmer, I also enjoy this time of year very much. I love the colorful forests!

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but fall is not my favourite season. I notice most of those who love fall seem to live further south, so I understand the relief from humid, sweltering summers that comes with fall.

Yes, I enjoy the colours right now, but they are short-lived. The daylight hours are getting much shorter and the temperatures much cooler, with lots of rain. No more shorts and T-shirts...back to long pants, long-sleeved shirts and jackets. It also means winter will soon be on its way and that brings snow with it!! Brrrr!

This northerner's favourite season is spring. Everything is blooming anew, the days are getting longer, and the temperatures are becoming warmer, without the hot days of mid-summer. More importantly, no more need to bundle up with several layers every time you want to go outside!

Re: leaves. I just mow over them and leave 'em where they are. Once they are dime-sized or smaller, they just decompose into the lawn. Might take a few passes (over a few weeks) to get them small enough, but they just become fertilizer for next year.
