Treasure chest hider dies

The person or people that found the treasure were never identified - was it really found

I know but some news reports seem to doubt if there was really a hidden treasure
According to people who knew Fenn (and there are quite a few here in Santa Fe) there absolutely was a treasure. But, if the person who found it doesn't want to identify him/herself we'll probably never know for sure. I'd like to believe there was, and that it would found. Otherwise it would be even more sad about the people who died trying to find it.

I would like to believe too but unless the people that found the treasure are identified we will never know for sure

If the treasure was found, and if the finder wants to remain anonymous, I hope people will just leave it alone.

The treasure was a free RCI membership. With that, the owner could travel the world. :D

I'm even more convinced now that there was never a treasure and it was just a story to sell books. Fenn learned of his impending death, and instead of perpetuating a false story of the treasure, which has gotten people killed and would probably kill more, he created the anonymous finder story to end the hunt. Until someone proves me wrong, there was no treasure to be found and there was no treasure found.

As I've said, I've talked to people who knew Fenn who swear there was a treasure. We can all believe what we choose. I doubt anyone will be able to "prove" anything either way.
