My mother passed away in January. Her Wyndham Timeshare was paid in full and maintenance fees are current. None of her beneficiaries want the timeshare. Her probate is in NJ. Whyndham told us today that we would need to file probate in Orange County, FL. I find that outrageous, especially since everyone is declining the inheritance.
What rights do we have?
Am I being taken for a ride with what they are telling me? Probate is taking place in Camden County, NJ.
What experiences have you had?
Anyone gotten rid of this without such stupidity?
Help!!!

No one has to accept an inheritarence. Just leave it alone. Don't sign anything pertaining to the timeshare.

Which resort or resort is it and how many points at each if more than one? There may be some owners here on TUG who would be willing to split or pay the transfer costs to take it. Many of us have used LT Transfers and can recommend them if you find a taker. That solution would be much easier for you and your family.

I am quite chaffed. We brought it current on maintenance fees (lagged a month during hospitalization/death/funeral/probate) and have been paying dutifully each month under the promise that they would take it back, and then the bastards popped the ancillary probate request for Orange County.

We are researching disclaimer forms declining the inheritance in the interim.
84,000 points Bonnet Creek - totally paid off and in good standing.

The easiest and cleanest way is for the Executor of the estate to call Wyndham Cares— Ovations at 866-948-4690. It’s Wyndhams deedback at no cost to you except for paying another couple of months of MFs while the deedback is being completed.
Check on Limited Edition as part of the Ovations process, you could possibly get 3 years of points with no MFs. You might as well get the 3 years of points for a few free nights of vacation or a long weekend getaway

What rights do we have?

A few years ago, one of my sister in laws died while her house was in foreclosure.

Her siblings payed for the funeral, but nobody ever filed probate.

The house was eventually sold by the bank.
