I have many things I miss not travelling...

However, I have to only pick ONE thing so it must be the biggest one.

You will laugh..

I really miss the spa treatments. I don’t do them at home but always away from home. Yes, massages, pedicures and manicures (no polish please..I’m a guy you know)

Hard choice. What’s your one thing you miss not travelling at the moment?

Never had a spa treatment in my life. I wouldn't know what to ask for.

But the thing I miss about travel is food. GOOD food. DIFFERENT food. Food I don't have to clean up after, Food from other cultures, properly prepared in traditional settings. Don't give me 'fusion' anything. I want like the preparer's grandma made it.

That's what I miss most.

Just being away and seeing/doing something different.

We do spa treatments on Maui at the Grand Wailea. It's a treat we all look forward to. But we have an excellent spa in Santa Fe, 10,000 Waves. I try to get there a couple of times a year. I bought a gift certificate and that's one of the first places I'll go when they open back up.

Non Chain Restaurants that cook delicious, gourmet, safe, gluten free foods. Key West, Marco Island, Disney and Myrtle Beach have great gluten free choices. Where I live I hardly ever eat out as the options are mostly chain food and they never call my name. Most of non chain restaurants have sad gluten free options.

Not traveling.

Being able to "get away" from it all.

Having delicious meals with my family in great restaurants.

I missed traveling, meeting new people.

I missed going out to breakfast, talking with my special breakfast chef friend in Williamsburg, VA.

Also, I missed cruising, sailing the ocean and having dinner in speciality restaurant and shore excursions.

But most of all I missed sharing travel time with the Commander in Chief and our traveling friends.

Finally, This year I am going to missed traveling to Hawaii to celebrate my Granddaughter graduation from The University. I will missed seeing her march across the stage and receiving her degree. All college graduations exercises have been postponed in Virginia because of the Coronavirus.

Great food, beautiful sights, the excitement of being in a new place yet enjoying the familiarity of repeat places I love. Meeting interesting people, buying unique items I cant find at home, just the fun of planning a trip and experiencing it coming to life. I miss the scenery and of course trying out different resorts.

nerodog, Portugal great country and great people. I will never forget on one of our cruises stop ; we went to a local restaurant(ok a pup) to have a small snack and a drink after a long walk around the city beach shoreline. It was a beautiful day along the shoreline.
The shop was not busy. The meal and the drink was excellent. We wanted to called a taxi to take us back to the ship. The owner of this business. He insisted no. He closed his business and took us back to the ship. We left him a little something. He refused. But when you are riding in the back seat . You can still leave something. To show all Americans are not ungrateful.

Pedro, you are right. Overall, the Portuguese people are charming and helpful. Lots if national pride and for years I visited and found the same reactions as you! It made it an easy decision to retire here.

Funny you should mention that -- getting a pedicure has been a Daddy/Daughter tradition with my DD for many years when we go to Florida around Christmas time. It's the only time I ever get a pedicure. And yes, one year my DD talked me into a dark blue polish for my toes! :ROFLMAO: She definitely had me wrapped around her little finger, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

I just miss getting a break from the day to day routines, stresses, and thinking serious thoughts (finance, health etc). I feel so darned stuck. Stuck at home, stuck with my stress. I just want some time off from life.

Wishful thinking.

The Ocean, seafood, sunshine sunrises and sunsets. Meeting new happy people, new local no chain restaurants, sometimes getting a lucky convertible rental car. The view out of the balcony, grilling fresh catch from the fish market. Enjoying quality time with family and friends. Not going to updates. The beaches and pools.
