I have never seen the city so empty. We went to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and were told this was the last day they would be open. They are closing tomorrow for at least the rest of this month. When we went to the Ferry Building it was the emptiest I've ever seen it.

Business is booming at Costco!! I was there this morning, just before noon, and it was almost as crowded as a typical Sunday afternoon. I can imagine it will be like this evening and over the weekend.

I went to our Costco this morning, at opening. But I didn't stand in line. The place was packed an hour later with the checkout line all the way to the back of the store. I won't even try to go over the weekend. BTW, even at opening, there was no TP left.

I just got back from our Costco. Dashed through (can a person ever truly "dash" through Costco?) to pick up a couple of things to top off our hoard, er, "stockpile" of supplies... It was pretty busy there, but not frantic. About what I'd expect at 5:00 on a Friday afternoon. I was able to pick up the dozen or so things I was after, mainly frozen veggies, chicken, ground beef, and those awesome Trident brand fish sticks (currently on sale for $7.99.) The bread aisle was pretty picked over, but I was able to get a couple loaves of a type I wanted, and I splurged on some Franz blueberry Old Fashioned donuts, a family favorite. All in, an easy trip, and I spent well under $100. I topped off the gas tank as I was leaving, so I'm good to go.

Actually, there is no hoarding at our house. We like to keep things pretty well stocked up, and I like buying multiples of things on sale. As they get used, they get replaced. We have plenty of paper products, (although I did check today - my Costco had zero TP when I was there, although a friend said they had "plenty" this morning.) Our chest freezer is full, and the pantry is definitely not bare. I figure we have plenty to feed the household for a couple of months, and longer, if we get creative. I'm good. Now we just need to avoid catching this virus...

For those who were wondering, my official retirement is next Friday. Heck of a way to start the next phase of my life.

We stocked up on some canned goods the other night, since moving we really haven't been able to replenish our pantry as we tried to use most of it up before moving from Ohio. Worst case is we will need it instead for a hurricane. So we started creating our hurricane kit.

I agree. I was there for 5 days this past week, (3/8-13), and stayed at the Suites @ Fisherman's Wharf. The wharf area was relatively empty, (except for small groups of people watching the sea lions at Pier 39). No wait to get on the cable cars, seated in restaurants, plenty of seats on buses, trolleys, and BART.

Just left SF on March 13. Plane was 1/3 full. Things were changing daily. You could virtually hop on a cablecar without hesitation (no line up). Chinatown was a ghost town. The Wharf was very quiet. I go there twice a year but have never seen the city this quiet and solemn. Things have progressed rapidly since.
