My wife and I are headed there later in the year. Who's had an opportunity to stay? What's it like? Any recommendations on eating?

Crystal Shores is a very nice resort. The only downside could be bad room location.

Two places I like, very casual Snook Inn. Since new ownership food has been good. More upscale Cafe de Marco. They will pay for you taxi back and forth. Their jumbo prawns are amazing.

The bar and grill by the pool at the Hilton next door is good. The Italian place across the street was also good.

Marco Prime in the plaza across the street- make a reservation on open table.

Also a cute mini golf place across the street was fun.

We enjoyed walking up the beach to the Marriott resort for coffee, ice cream and pizza.

Day trip to the Everglades for their boat tours.

Day trip to the botanical gardens in Naples (great lunch cafe).

Enjoyed the bar and grill on site too.

Go to Goodland on Sunday afternoon for music. We often eat at a Little Bar Restaurant

We will be going there for the first time a few weeks from now. Anyone know anything about the esplanade shopping center. It looks like they have a few good places. JME, have any recommendations?

We ate the at Mango's last trip, very good. There are a couple of interesting shops but all in all it's nothing special. Our best meals were at Italian Deli & market for carry out, Joey's Pizza, & Doreen's for Breakfast. Also in Goodland at Little Bar Restaurant was very good.

I would agree but expectations should be set. I would recommend the OP perform a little research on Goodland and the food offerings there. It's not fine dining but local hangouts famous for fresh seafood and ice cold beers (yummy).

John, you are going to find that Marco Island is somewhat dead this time of year. The snow birds are back home and even things like the farmer's market are closed.

For your own seafood, and a quick less-than-a-day trip, go the Everglades City.

Even if not for fresh seafood:

do the drive to Everglades City anyway.

Then, try to picture that was the Collier County seat until 1962, and some trips to do county business in places like Naples and Vanderbilt Beach and parts of Bonita Springs/Bonita Beach were in swamp buggies.

Nice, reasonable Park Service tour boat in Everglades City, too.

Thanks for the heads up Matt but not to worry, I used to live in Boca way back when and we used to love when the snow birds fly back north. My wife has a few friends on Marco and that's the primary reason we are going.Besides, I can happily spend most of my time at the pool and beach, as long as I have something cold to drink.

We reserved a 3 BR Island View next July. How are these room locations?

These would be closer to the road. I had an island view. If I remember correctly I was on the 6th floor and could see the water if I sat on the terrace but I also was near mechanicals and faced a parking area of the hotel next door. I would have preferred a higher floor.

As an II trade, they gave me the highest floor available and closest to the water. If I had a lower floor nearer to the road I would have been unhappy.

I think I have island view floor 6-15. I am booking this 1 year out using DPs so I hope I get a high floor.

BTW, how many people does the 3 BR sleep and in what configuration?

Not sure if the LR couch pulls out, didn’t check. Higher floor is good, you shouldn’t hear the noise I did.
