Marriott Bonvoy points on sale 25% off

Bonvoy points can be purchased on Marriott's website for less than 1 penny per point right now. Following the link sends you to a points.com website. Do you think this means you cannot get 6 points per dollar purchased using a Marriott credit card?

I wonder. Could you go to a local marriott and purchase gift cards, earn your max points and then use the gift card to buy the points?

No, sorry , I should have been clearer. Whatever amount of points you are buying, they match it for the usual cost. It would be like if Marriott said buy 50,000 points, get double that for the $625. So 100,000 points for $625. IHG and Hilton have a max of 100,000 points a year now you can buy, and when they run the deal you get 200,000.
