The Best 5 Frozen Pizzas at the Grocery Store
By Hillary Maglin/ Real Food/ Shop Talk/ Rachel Ray Every Day/ rachelraymag.com

"Say goodbye to waiting 45 minutes for delivery! Our staff tried around 30 frozen grocery store pizzas, and these are the five they say taste the most like a hot slice fresh from the delivery box!....."

Richard, thanks for sharing this information.

For those of you who have Harris Teeter grocery stores, I really like their store brand HT Trader's Flatbread Overload Pepperoni Gourmet Pizza Thin and Crispy Crust. Other topping choices are available also.

We've tried and failed to find a good frozen pizza. DiGiorno is passable, but something we only buy every five years or so if a coupon pops up. TJ used to have a terrific frozen calzone, but sadly discontinued it.

Just the title makes me crave a good ol’ Red Baron pizza. I don’t know if they even make them anymore, but that was a late-night staple of my college days.
I’m fairly sure it wouldn’t make even a top 25 list.

Forgive me, but anyone who eats grocery store frozen pizza would read Rachel Ray. Oh, Wait.
You gave me a good chuckle. I had only watched her tv show a couple of times and I was pretty sure I would not eat what she prepared or cooked. When Martha Stewart made a comment about Rachael Ray, we had a good laugh about it at home. I guess Rachael Ray's cooking works for the busy mothers who do not have alot of time and have to whip up a meal for a hungry family. That was not me and still not me.

Hey, I eat them sometimes. I have never seen Rachel Ray either. :)

Mostly, the french bread pizzas on, timeshare trips. Sometimes for lunch, rarely. Some are not bad. Have not had one of the 12" round ones in a long time, don't eat much pizza any more.

I liked Fresh Market pizza it is not frozen more like a pizza; you can purchase from Costco.

The only decent frozen pizza I have ever tried is Freschcetta Brick Oven Crust. Though I did recently try DiGorno Pan Pizza which was ok as well. These are ok for keeping on hand for a night you want a quick and easy meal.

The major problem with frozen pizza is the crust. The rising dough pizza are very bready.

You can make a far superior pizza with a pizza stone and some pizza dough from the supermarket (not the pop'n'fresh type)

But since I can go to the local pizza parlor (which is not a chain) and get a decent to good pie for $12, it just doesn't pay. Especially since the local pie is larger than the frozen ones.

As a working mum with 2 teens in activities, I keep a pizza in the freezer as an emergency quick meal. My teens sometimes have it on sat for lunch.
What does Rachel Ray cook? Sounds right up my alley!

She did a salad on one of her 30-minute meal shows and decided to use whatever that was in her fridge. Obviously it was stocked for her show. She threw in all sorts of stuff that she "found" in the fridge. As far as I am concerned, many of the items she pulled out from the fridge should not go into a salad and I had an ewwww reaction.

When leaving for a trip, we asked my s-sons to stop by to feed our dog.
As an inducement, we left them six frozen pizzas in our fridge.
When we returned two weeks later, they were all gone.

Well, I have one Rachel Ray recipe from the Internet. But sometimes you just want pizza when you want it and you don't want to go out or wait for delivery. The one I mentioned above fits the bill quite well.

They do!

I'm not much of a cook but I know what I like. Rachel Ray's Garlic-Dill Salmon is quite good! https://www.rachaelraymag.com/recipe/garlic-dill-salmon And yes, I DO need a recipe to even cook something this simple. And no, I have never read Rachael Ray's magazine. Martha Stewart is way too complicated and time consuming for me.

This sounds pretty good actually, except I need to feed a diabetic at home so no orange and lemon juice marinate for us.

Frozen pizza is a Norwegian favorite food. I think its called Grandiosa. I don't know why they like it.

I never liked frozen pizza. Maybe when I was in my 20's with some beers I could enjoy some with a buzz on.

Papa Murphy's take-and-bake FRESH pizza is just as convenient as frozen (unless is it after 8 p.m. when the PM stores close). MUCH better taste.

Most any take-out is better than frozen pizza, and more convenient (it's already baked).

The "best frozen pizza" is like the "best house" in a bad neighborhood.

When I was in college, we'd have pizza + beer parties that went late into the night. After sleeping it off, we'd wake up to find cold pieces of pizza and warm beer leftover in various places... Breakfast!

Those were the days, my friends. We thought they'd never end.

Many years ago we had delivered pizza from our local takeout one night when my in-laws were visiting. The next morning my MIL was shocked when I heated up a slice of leftover pizza for breakfast: "How can you eat pizza for breakfast!" My reply: "Easy. It has all the major food groups; bread, cheese, meat and veggies, and it tastes good!". That became a standing joke for years.

And I don't mind a decent (but not as good as delivered fresh) frozen pizza when we are too tired to cook or in a rush, so we always have a couple in the freezer. :)

What is it about the tomato sauce on frozen pizza? It has "that taste". That's why if we buy a Digiorno or a Fraschetta and think, well that wasn't too bad, if we buy one again too soon the "frozen pizza taste" is quite prominent on the second pie.
