Marriott Platinum elite line gone?

I think you are all mistaken. I received my lifetime platinum packet in the mail Saturday and it definitely states there is a platinum elite line...;)
I too have a Plat Elite Card and even a Platinum Premier Card. Both of those numbers are answered by regular staff and automated.

Have been Plat Premiere past few years and now the number we call is answered by the std phone reps.

I am on the phone right now trying to redeem a travel package. Took a long time for someone to answer after moving past the auto answer. Now she put me on hold. I suspect, as others have surmised, that the rep doesn't know what to do. Very frustrating.

My call was dropped. I called back a little later and the rep was very helpful. She apologized for the delay and for the earlier call that was dropped. I hope the service gets better as the newer people get trained.

that the time I spent today extending, upgrading and using my 5-nights hotel certificate.
 
I think the MVCI desk can handle most things, I’d try there first...

MVCI cannot help with anything that is not MVCI related. It isn't even the same company. They do not have any direct access to marriott.com. They access their own system which feeds info to marriott.com but it is only MCVI related reservations and nothing else.
 
I called today. Had a 30 minute hold. Rep answered the "Platinum line". I was shocked and asked to verify. She did...it was the Platinum line.

Had no issue purchasing 3 5-night travel packages. I wanted the miles before the Aug devaluation. I probably won't be able to use all the nights, but it was worth it for the 360K miles.

Hmm, I was able to have her change a reservation that I had made the day before on Marriott.com so that a certificate was used on the most benifitial of two days and change the other day to use cash instead of MR points. So they can do at least that much...
 
So, I purchased a 5 night travel package with miles today. To do so, I simply called the MVCI Presidential line. The call was answered with the word presidential in it, and, within 1 second, I got through to a rep who arranged the 5 night travel package for me. So, an alternative to calling the MR line if it is still troublesome is calling the MVCI VIP line for things like travel packages. It really couldn't have been any easier.
