Received in my email this morning.

I downloaded the app and played around. Seems nicely designed overall and works well on the iPhone X. It does not yet support new reservations but provides access to SO balances and current reservations. It also has a neat feature called the Vacation Timeline which displays all of your past trips.

I tried it, but most of the features in the Dashboard just re-direct you to the web site. I think I'd rather log in on a browser for now.

Typical silly marketing app. Waste of our money. They didn’t even make the effort to have it work on both iPad and iPhone at native resolution. And yeah, most features require redirecting to the web site. Another example of their poor IT implementations.

@Ken555 I disagree that it’s an example of their poor IT. Although some features are missing, the things that are in the app seem to work well. My guess is that with the upcoming merger, they needed to snap a line on development and release what they had, rather than waiting until they had a more comprehensive offering.

How many owners have tablets? Why wouldn’t they do the minor incremental additional development to make the app work natively in multiple sizes? I doubt the merger has an impact on this project, but we wouldn’t know...

I would certainly hope the merger has an impact on the project. You mentioned earlier that developing the app is a "waste of our money." With the merger looming, it doesn't make sense to continue spending money on an app that isn't being developed with the combined company's entire audience in mind. Why would they allow an unnecessary development project to continue before management has a chance to review and weigh in on the strategic direction of the new combined company?

The website is already mobile friendly, all features function well (including bookings) on tablets and smart phones. As far as i am concerned they do not need to spend money on a dedicated app.

For Marriott/VSE/Worldmark and any other timeshare within the sound of my voice (typing):

Give me what I want:
  • An app that has
    • Saved searches
    • Alerts for searches, payments (due/OD), reservations windows, banking, use/loose
    • A content locker for all my reservations, GC's etc..
    • A quick check of my points bal/HKT's etc...
    • Resort calendars on a click
    • Resort maps on a click (with directions, phone numbers, hours etc...)
    • A count-down clock 'when can I reserve?' with reminder
It's not that hard.

Same goes for Interval and RCI. Stinky apps for me....

Just remember who pays for these apps. We do! The owners as part of the fees we pay every year. I suppose they could collect an extra $2 from every owner week and develop a pretty great app.

Every service that is provided costs us money. If VSE wants to differentiate itself as a quality product, then they need to provide quality services. An improved web experience, especially for mobile, doesn't seem like too much to expect these days.
