Last few years I have been renting out my units via Redweek no problem. Been away from TUG and have wanted to ask this question since Feb.

I had secured rentals on Thanksgiving weekend of Nov 17 for reservations I made at Beach-place towers for Feb 18 weeks. At time of rental I called Marriott and placed the renters name on the weeks I rented. Yes these are my weeks that I am renting. Not traded via II.

Feb rolls around and I went on to my account to check to see if the renters name was on the reservation. I could not see the name online so I ended up calling Marriott reservations. The Agent then proceeded to tell me that I had to call back and speak to the Marketing dept? ( I guess the timeshare sales people? I dunno. In any event after calling back and speaking to a different person I was informed that Reservations is no longer permitted to put another name on an owners reservation. Now I don't recall this in the past? Is this a new policy? It was the weekend and the Marketing dept were not around? So What gives here? Please bring me up to 2018. Thanks.

Call Owner Services and ask to add a guest’s name to the reservation.

I am renting, had my name added and then added other names.

I rented a unit from someone I know that was a 2 br kickoff. My wife and I were going with my son and his girlfriend. my name was put on the reservation through Owner services. Work was causing me to come a day late so i called Marriott reservations and added my son for the reservation and added my name to the notes. Work is now preventing me from going so I asked the owner to split the reservation to a studio and 1 br so my son can use one and a second cousin who my son really doesn't know can use the other. My name was on both the reservations. I put different names on both reservations through Marriott. No issue. I also added my rewards number to both reservations with no problem which put my email address in the record so it shows on my online account. No problem. My son will add his MR at checkin. I never asked if my cousin has an MR number so they may or may not add it. Neither are actually renting from me but reservations don't know that.

Who pays the lock off fee? You as the renter who locked it off or the owner who is unaware you have "sublet" his unit?

OK Call Owner services. Has this always been the way to do this? Maybe I just don't remember from year to year? And are they available on the weekends?

That is exactly how to do it.

Owner Services will then add the name to the reservation, and that in turn will be forwarded to the resort,
and the front desk will have it noted. The person added will be able to check in under his/her name.

If you request an additional "updated" email confirmation from Marriott Owner Services, that added name
may not (will not) show on the confirmation, however. The new policy, I believe, is that the owner's name exclusively remains
on the reservation confirmation, and the added person/persons name(s) will be nowhere in the email.

As always, the owner still controls the week despite adding the "guest's" name.
In the past Marriott would add the name under the heading GUEST,
but I haven't seen an added name recently on that email confirmation.

I have been talking with member services about this all morning. I need to add my renters name to my reservation and receive a new confirmation email showing his name as an additional guest. I've done this several times before with no issues. Member services says they have a new system and can no longer send new confirmation emails with guest names.

I need to provide something to my renter to assure him that he is on the reservation. Looks like I can no longer do that. Member services says the only thing to do now is to have the renter call with the reservation number and they will tell him if he is listed on it.

In the past I would get an email confirmation with the renters name as well. I also encourage the rent er to acll and confirm. It does feel like Marriott changed the process either way.

That's a strange development. In any case, you should be able to look up the reservation on marriott.com by using the confirmation number, check-in date and first and last name of your renter if the reservation has been charged to his name. From there you can then print, copy and paste to an email or use the email function. You could also provide instructions to your renter on how to access the reservation on marriott.com

That's what I attempted to do in February but did not appear to be available to use that feature anymore. When when's the last time you tried to do that when you rented.

I just tried the reservation look up function on marriott.com and it worked but only after I was logged in to my Marriott account. I had an error message when I was not logged in. Note - you need to use the exact same spelling for the first name and last name as they are on the reservation.

The renter can't lock off the unit. The owner has to do that through owner services. When this is done, it goes from one reservation number to two. In my case the owner had an enrolled week but I offered to pay the fee since I was unaware of this. Every change I made to the reservation, the owner notified. This included name changes, adding my rewards number and email address. Even though they added my email address as the primary in the reservations, the owner address was in the secondary and could not be deleted. In my case it worked because I knew the owner and because of this I would not sublet it without his knowledge.

I wasn't accusing I just wanted to know how you managed to lock off after renting. That's great that the owner was so accommodating and you had good communication with him.

Lol.... I did not think you were accusing me. Even if someone did do it, unless prohibited in a rental agreement, I don't believe it is against any rule. I just thought I could use my experience with this what I could and could not do on my own to contribute to the thread.
