Instant upgrade to Presidential??

I just made a reservation for New Year's Eve at Ocean Blvd. I had been watching it and there has not been any availability for a week or more. Tonight, however, there is lots of availability which is great... Express Reservation time so discounted points and VIP upgrades available. BUT, there is a 2 br Presidential Unit available to book, but nothing will upgrade to that. A 2br lower will upgrade to a 2 br upper or a 3 bedroom, but not to the 2br Presidential. A 2br upper will upgrade to a 3 br but not to the 2BR P. Is this typical?? I am Grandfathered VIP Silver.
Thanks for any comments.
 
Not sure, but I think you would need a one bedroom to upgrade to a 2 bedroom or a 2 bedroom presidential. I do not know if a 2 bedroom is available if it would let you go to a 2 bedroom presidential. You may want to call Wyndham tomorrow and see if they can do it for you.

We haven't been able to totally figure out upgrades yet. There are too many anomalies and too much erratic, randon behavior on the web site.

Generally speaking, if there is a 2BR Deluxe unit, a 2BR lock off unit, and a 2BR Presidential unit, you can only upgrade a 1BR unit to the 2BR Deluxe unit. The lock off and presidential units cannot be reached. Usually!

The only way I've been able to reach lock offs or pres units like that is to reserve all the 2BR Deluxe units until the others become available. Even though you can get them back, it can take a lot of points, and it may fail depending on the number of 2BR Deluxe units are available. Never mind all the mouse clicking and time spent watching little spinners.
 
I didn't think about trying to reserve all the 2br units to try and isolate the Presidential, but that wouldn't be feasible for me since I would have to pay $19.00 for each reservation made! Guess that is one downside to being "just" Silver VIP.
Thanks for the suggestion, though. I might actually try it if it was free. :)

I've been able to do it twice and failed several times.

Just had another similar situation. At the moment, there are a Studio, a 1BR Lower Level, and a 1BR Upper Level available 12/28-1/2 at Panama City Beach. I can upgrade the Studio to the 1BR LL but not the 1BR UL. Since I'm pretty sure there aren't a lot of units available, I'll try to book the LL unit to get it out of the way and see what happens. Back in a few.

I'm back. I got the 1BR UL unit upgraded from the Studio but did it a different way.

So far, it seems the Wyndham reservation people can't do much that we can't do.
 
Maybe, but they did help me do a transaction by checking different ways. I do not know all the different ways. Some representative know a number of different ways to get you where you want to go.

You can always put a message out hear and maybe some VIP's will book up all the rooms needed so you can get your upgrade....
Since the system is broke - make our own fixes!!!!!
 
Great idea. Maybe that is what happened with the earlier poster did to get the 1 bedroom UL from a studio unit.
 
One theory is that you can only upgrade to a larger unit - which the upgrade logic defines as a having more bedrooms AND sleeps more people. So in some situations a 3BR Presidential cannot be upgraded to from a 2BR Deluxe since the 3BR Presidential sleeps the same number of people.
