How I Like to Spend $100 at Trader Joe's

We've been to TJ's a few times, while visiting in WA or OR. But, honestly, we have yet to go to the somewhat-new one downtown here--simply because of the hassle of where it's located. So I agree with the location comments above.
I asked the nice checker when I was there Friday afternoon, 'When to come here that it isn't crazy?' She said without hesitation: '8:30 in the morning. No crowds and the night's delivery has been stocked and the fresh stuff is at it's freshest. 8:30 to 10 in the morning.' Note taken.

I avoid Trader Joe's because they have the most delicious spicy dill potato chips. If I could refrain from eating the whole bag in one sitting, I might go more often, but I simply cannot resist.

I too avoid Trader Joe's. I don't have as developed a palate as so many who respond with their favorites. Don't know what half of them even are. While I am always learning to like new things, I'm afraid I was raised on Southern country cooking/soul food. My 95 year old mother lives with us and still shops and prepares our dinner almost every night. We've just about broken her of adding so much salt, but if there's a vegetable, it's most likely going to contain bacon or ham hock! And if she could have her way, we'd be eating battered and fried at least 3 times a week. :) I keep a couple of Lean Quisine and shrimp in the freezer for those nights. But I also avoid Trader Joe's because my favorites are their cookies! And with my mother's cooking, I have to do all I can to not to snack! :(

I walk to Trader Joe's from home and it's great to have one so close. They offer many great products, though I especially enjoy their nuts (even with all the local options we have for fresh almonds, somehow TJs are better than others).

If your 95-Y-O mother still does the shopping and prepares dinner most nights--and still uses bacon or ham hocks with the meals, so much for those afraid of a little bit of saturated fat, LOL.

Agree, Southern comfort foods are 'in my bones' from my Mom's heritage--I swear, it's genetic, not my fault. :)

We have a couple chain groceries near us but many TJ'S so they are no big deal to us. One is two blocks away and we do go to it when shopping at the fantastic produce market in the same shopping center or at times when going to Peet's or Starbucks in the same area. Used to only shop Safeway but that is because we worked there for 42 and 43 years and that made shopping simple.
TJ'S is good for some things but not as good as when they first opened in o
